The attitude of several players this season has made supporting the club very difficult. Being a bit rubbish is one thing, and as Mansfield fans we are all very used to it! But the disdain some of the players have shown towards the club and the fans is shocking. Swearing at fans does happen, and I kind of get those saying people should take it if they dish it out. But this team are on huge wages to go up, and are 21st
They have seen a decent man sacked. So for over 300 fans to travel a long way, there is absolutely no excuse to be swearing at them. Naff off to Notts county bish, they are more your standard anyway.

Good post.

I bet the players can't wait to see the back of it as well.

Damage limitation time.

He shouldn’t have to apologise. He shouldn’t have done it. It’s not like it’s the first time either. He’s taking out the frustration that his legs have gone. He’ll be binned at the end of the season.

No excuse for what he did

Neal Bishop does have a rush of blood to the head at times. Arguably, his rush of blood to the head against Carlisle United away like Tyler Walker's stupid sending off against FGR at home cost us promotion. Small margins etc.

He had a great season last year although ran out of steam in the last four games.

His legs didn’t look like they’d gone yesterday , he was heavily involved in play, making tackles and frequently on the ball, the issue was with his use of the ball, it was for want of a better word .... crap

Not the stagsnet lynch mob way unfortunately. Then they whine when players move on because they don't want to play for us.

His legs haven't gone, I bet he covers more ground than pretty much anyone else in the side. The problem is, his form has been poor this season, but he has been part of a very poor side badly managed. Last season he was in a good side being well managed and hence was pretty much outstanding.

Also this fuss about his gesture, yes he was wrong and he's righly apologised but oh my god get over it fgs! Not much sympathy for the abuse on Twitter though, if you go on there it sadly goes with the territory. Sadly over the years this forum has started to resemble twitter, for many the only route of argument is the Belly way, ie you have nothing else so just go for some abuse - I suspect some more will be heading my way soon

No one in their right mind will complain if Bishop wanted to move on. The able minded among us would probably offer to drive him there. He's 64 and gash.

Neil Bishop has left the fans of every club he's ever played for with nothing but good memories and almost hero status. He comes here and all of a sudden he's turned into the clubs latest scapegoat. It says more about our scummy fanbase than it does about Bishop!

Scummy fanbase?

Do you include yourself in that, or do you consider yourself a 1 in 4000 type of guy?

Bishop has struggled with negative comments during an unexpected slump in the teams performances. He’s earned hero status elsewhere and struggled to do so here, I would imagine that’s hard for a player, but to simply blame “scummy“ fans, well that’s all a bit too John Lomas for me.

What he did was out of order and unprofessional. He has apologised and that seems to have satisfied the fair minded on here.

As for the others? I don't think it's a coincidence that the previous scapegoat has been on the bench for the last few games and the one before that is on loan at Forest Green.

Ridiculous comment. Is Bishop now immune from criticism for his poor performances (which have been going on since last feb) and swearing at fans just because he was a ‘hero’ at his previous clubs? His time at those clubs has nothing to do with us.

He was also a much better player for those clubs, younger, and part of successful sides. Here he was good until County last season and since then he’s been largely anonymous which is probably through no fault of his own as age catches up with him but he seems to have some kind of superiority complex over fans because he’s 38. Facebook posts moaning at fans, likes on twitter having a dig, throwing his arms about on the pitch, now this. He’s not being made a scapegoat as the whole team has faced criticism, he’s just not been that good.

I think some of the comments on here are totally overblown for someone who is " just not been that good".

I also think the Notts County thing has been blown out of proportion.

We need to get behind ALL the players rather than finding a scapegoat (which clearly Bishop is for some fans).

Bishop hey same guy lording it up to the county fans slapping his heart whilst our team were struggling on that day! Oh we know where his loyalties lie. So no surprise how he reacts. Agree with other posters defo not the same player since that day we played county away.

I be happy when he goes and we recruit a better player.

Just my opinion mind
