I’d personally move Bishop on now as well and then bring 2 midfielders in. 1 who can do the dirty bits but has some legs which we don’t have at all in midfield, and 1 who is a bit more creative.

Then deal with the rest of the midfield in the summer.

Sorry to see him go but not devastated by the news. He showed a lot of promise but was still quite raw.

There are other players out there who we can develop for ourselves rather than blood them and watch them move on. Give the games to young Smith as this is now a nothing season and the ideal time to give him the experience he needs.

I’d rather have him in the side than Bishop, Macca, and Tomlinson, but I suppose that’s not hard. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he was a world beater by any stretch, but he was capable of a decent pass and had some tidy games.

Can't blame him one jot, would you want to stay with the rabble we have, it's not likely to make him a better player but Nigel Clough might.

Remembering the situation with Walker last January, Flitcroft made a point by saying Forest are deciding whether to recall Walker or not, we should hear soon.
Apparently, there is often, if not usually, a recall clause in favour of the contracted club.

Leeds are going to recall Conor Shaughnessy if they have agreed to sell him to Burton Albion. He must have impressed Nigel Clough in the B Team Trophy.

I thought Conor Shaughnessy did fairly well for us in midfield and was one of the players who kept wanting the ball and trying to pass it forward. He seemed to be better in midfield than when he played centre half. However he was nowhere near fit or mobile enough to play in a Leeds United side managed by Bielsa. Furthermore if we were paying big money for him then he was not worth it. GC might think he can get better value for money elsewhere.

We need to sign a couple of central midfield players who have real energy and who can get up and down the pitch and even burst forward with the ball to break lines. Our midfield was very very static yesterday. Macca tried to inject some energy in the 2nd half but the quality of his passing/final ball lets him down.

They have excellent sponsorship deals. But I suspect this isn't about costs. It's obvious to all but the deluded that we aren't going anywhere this year so why spend money we don't need to.

If Shaugnessy's comment to Sparticus yesterday was correct, he was hoping to stay here. I suspect it is GC who has sent the lad back so he can spend the money elsewhere. He's said the squad is too big and wants to trim it so loan signings are the place to start. Following yesterday's defeat, any very slim chance of the playoffs have now gone so we will either run a player short or bring a contracted player in earlier than expected - I suspect the former.
