Hapless. Hopeless

Postby EdwinstoweStag » Sat Jan 04, 2020 5:24 pm

We were a complete disgrace today.

No pace. No vision. No midfield.

CJ - a wasted shirt again.

We got absolutely what we deserved today.

Why oh why are Mansfield Town FC so hapless? It doesn’t matter who the manager is, we will always bottle it, it’s in our nature. We could never do what say Tranmere did today. It’s not in our DNA. We are what we are......useless.

That was shocking
We have just lost 1-0 at home to one of the worst teams in the league who had 10 men for 80 odd minutes. If someone asked me what formation we play i could not answer them. Never looked like winning and got exactly what we deserved.

There are a few who sit around us who appear to relish poor performances so that they can shout at the manager and players. Yet they never make a peep when things are going well. They appear to be loving this season

Been to most, not all, of the 92 grounds a fair few times I'm quite lucky and I have to put the atmosphere at stags down as one of the worst.

I would like to be enthusiastic but I am not sure it would make any difference. We seem to have a better manager but the players need to work even harder and reflect properly on how they are performing because too many are way below par.

We have won 2 games at home this season, which is effectively over, we have had the great support from the fans as our attendance is up
How many more times do we have to be smacked in the face?
The players don’t give a F**ck as they are all earning more than most who pay to watch them dare to earn
A massive clear out is needed
I must admit I was embarrassed today

We were truly awful but most were worse than CJ who provided the only glimpses of quality. I'd recommend facing the pitch next week ;)

This... i heard on the commentary that Martin Shaw was almost pleading with fans not to get on pkayers backs after some 15 minutes, after Grimsby had gone down to 10 men. As a fan base, we do seem to struggle to get behind the team when things arent going well and look to blame and abuse to the point where players are hounded out.

The majority of these players were here last season, when we were doing well and don't become 'not league standard' overnight. There are obviously a few players in there still annoyed about Flitcroft leaving and arent able to reach the same levels under other managers. Some players have gone stale and need a fresh start.

With time to train and a transfer window to play with, i expect GC to turn things round and sort the club out for next season.

Why was CJ worse than Rose? Or any other player once they got into the box?

We put so many balls into the box today and Grimsby just dealt with it so comfortably time after time. We had numerous corners.

Why was Pearce climbing all over their players in their half giving cheap free kicks away?

Why was Maynard 'helping out' in defence?

Why did Mal volley the ball past Logan?

Why does Macca make anyone he passes to have to work to keep the ball in play? And why are his decisions and deliveries so bad?

It was really really poor. So many of them were awful. Can't single out one for praise really.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Don't be daft. No club would sign a player who was exposed for or suspected of doing that.

Mal has been a good player for us. He's having a mare this season but we all know in the right mindset / form he's one of the best LBs in the league.

Jamie Benning cannot or refuses to kick with both feet. This makes him very limited as a defender and most players up against him in league two know this. Today he either had to use his right foot to kick away the cross or leave it to go across the goal. He chose to use his left foot and we all know how that ended. In all honesty he had a decent game against Cambridge but in general this season he simply is not good enough in a team trying to get promoted. He needs to move on next season IMO

We desperately need a new LB, the lack of competition for years has led to Mal’s season this season.

He knows whatever he does, he won’t get dropped.
