I've added a section on team selection.

After watching some of the highlights it was great to see White casually kicking the ball down the wing and overtaking several players to pick it back up, it reminded me how important he was to our form last season and it’s no coincidence it went downhill after his unfortunate injury.

He’s vital to how we attack, and defend - the bloke even does a cracking job at CB. He’s essential going forward.

In the overall view Hayden did well NYD. However for the first 20 mins his lack of match sharpness was very evident and could've been more costly but for Con.

I think the first yellow card for Reggie Lambe was for an accumulation of minor infringements during the first half but it was not a foul on Jacob Mellis.

I think he realises he is falling over and cynically throws his body in Mellis's path thus preventing him from breaking into free space. Subtle but effective fouling with the same result as pulling his man back. Deservedly booked.

I would blame Neal Bishop and Jacob Mellis more for the first goal than Matt Preston. Neal Bishop lets Harvey Knibbs run past him into space and Jacob Mellis is marking nobody. They were both watching Jack Roles running with the ball instead of picking Knibbs up.

Hayden White should have done better blocking the cross. He got dragged into the centre.

I think 5.5 is very harsh on Matt Preston compared to a 7 for Hayden White. I don't think he was really at fault for the first goal whereas Hayden White was partly at fault and then Hayden White made the bad error that resulted in Sam Smith being clean through on goal.

I gave Man of the Match to Krystian Pearce.

Preston asleep for both goals in my opinion.

White started rustily but was then excellent.

Have a look at the first goal again on video and track Harvey Knibbs. Neal Bishop and Jacob Mellis are right next to him and they let him run by unmarked. Neal Bishop is the one nearest to him. Matt Preston is covering Sam Smith as Krystian Pearce has to leave him to challenge Jack Roles. Matt Preston is on the 6 yard line when Harrison Dunk crosses the ball and Neal Bishop and Jacob Mellis are much closer to Harvey Knibbs who is running in at goal.
