Would you sign any of our players

Postby daddycool » Tue Dec 10, 2019 1:09 pm

If I managed a top three team or a div 1 team and had a chance to sign our players ,I would struggle to think of one that is good enough . Goalies ok nothing more ,defenders have all been suspect this season ,maybe white when fit and on his game .
Midfield ,low energy levels and overrun most games .so I wouldn’t sign any to improve my team
Strikers ,Out of the three main strikers only Maynard has any class and would score more with the right service
So white and Maynard .

Over to you

Lol - there’s plenty of players any team in this division would take, you are looking in the entirely wrong direction mate.

Agreed. I’d add CJ to that list as well.

We have plenty of decent players who are hugely underperforming, but under the right management we know they’re capable of more.

The defence is a prime example of this. Evans and Flitcroft had us regimented, now we’re so poor at the back but Dempster doesn’t have the answers. God knows what we do in training.

I would suggest the top three have good defenders, and Rose is not div1 standard IMO

I have said on another thread, they have not become bad players overnight.

The problem isn't the players...

I think some teams would take a punt on Khan as well, but may not pay a decent fee. He’s still young and was highly rated before he came here, many might write this off as a bad move for him and see he’s got potential.

Well they have not performed consistently for nearly a year with different managers and coaches .

17 points behind the top team after 20 games suggests their is a big difference in quality

Would you have preferred for the answer to your question to just have been ‘No’?

We’ve some good players that are underperforming as a result of weak management. Dempster has said himself he’s failed in getting the best out of them. They may not be as good as we first thought but our squad is certainly capable of more than we are producing now. Players like Pearce would have got in to pretty much any side in the league for the past 2 seasons, but just can’t get it together under this manager.

I was told last week that both Salford and Gillingham are interested in signing Mellis, and that’s come from the player as well

Benning, Hamilton and Pearce in the EFL team of the season last year. Maynard and Cook would be right up there in any league 2 wish list based on last years record. Sweeney, Preston and White part of the best defence in the league for most of last year.

I think there would be lots of interest in many of our players, not sure the same could be said for the manager, now where does the problem lie?

The whole squad were one goal away from being league 1 players under different management.

The whole squad bottled I think blew an 8 point lead over MK from January onwards under that manager too.

How can it be the players when they went half a season unbeaten? It was the manager at the time and is the manager now. The players have shown they were capable.

I would sign Bobby White Khan

Ask a price for Rose CJ Maynard

The rest free transfer to any average non league side

Give game time to the youth players like Knowles etc

If the team u are running is in the National league may look at a few, any higher I’d be looking elsewhere, CJ has something that we can’t work with, think a higher move would suit him

On his day Mellis is easily one of best ball players in the league. Hasn't had many 'days' of late and wont ever work as hard as the Maccas of this world but naturally makes times for himself on the ball and finds space. Most L2 midfielders can't do that.

The problem is the management and tactics. Clearly the way the players are playing isn't working. Thsts then the managers job to fix via various methods.

I'd say 6/7 of our players would walk into 20 of the teams in this league. A further 2/3 would walk into maybe half the sides. We have a decent squad both on paper and in reality. We've seen them defend for their lives, we've seen them pass well, break teams down and dominate possession.

What ever the reason they aren't doing that now, it needs fixing.
