Kellan Gordon vacates his position so much, he is a defensive liability.
He is not the only reason why our defence is performing so badly this season, but tellingly, he is the one change to the personnel from last season.

Think that's a little harsh to single out Gordon. How many games have Sweeney, Pearce, Preston and Benning actually played together this season when playing the wing back formation? Prestons been out 6 games alone just through poor discipline. We haven't had the same consistency since we played well up until February.

We had a very stable backline up until White's injury at Colchester, never replaced him the rest is history - our form has never been the same.

Imo we can only play the wing back formation consistently and successfully with white in the team, Bobbys quicker distribution also helps with the formation to allow counter attacks. We showed the odd flash (Exeter away).

The new formation of 4-4-2 gives us an extra man in midfield however the centre of the park is predominantly where the root cause of problems originate.

Extra man in midfield? They had 3 centre mids today playing 352 to our 2, playing a 442. We were overran in midfield today playing leggy bishop and the invisible Man, Mr 5 yd backward pass, Shaugnessy, who I really don't rate.

We should have been able to use our width better we had 2 wide players each side, compared to their 1, but we didn't use it, and got embroiled in a midfield battle.

Macca and Otis had to come into the middle so often it nullified our strengths.

It was really weak today.

I would have taken Shaugnessy off, and CJ on out wide, and moved Macca into Central midfield at the hour mark.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Yesterday game really shown how poorly coached and managed our players are, I had no idea what the game plan was and the players didn’t either - I’m not sure they were even quite sure what formation to play.

We are a utter embarrassment on the pitch, and it’s not going to change until we take football seriously and sack John Dempster. That home form is the killer.

Hes expected to do 2 jobs on the right and without the protection of a 3rd CB behind him that you get with 352.

Macca plays so narrow, Gordon is basically a sitting duck out there. With that considered he does a pretty decent job IMO.

White and Gordon down the right would be a very strong partnership if we can ever get White fit.

Just looked at the goals conceded again.

The first Colchester goal was conceded due to Otis Khan losing the ball in midfield from a good pass by Ryan Sweeney which resulted in Kwame Poku(49) breaking away and his shot being deflected over the bar. We then concede the goal from the corner by not leaving a man up front which allows Cohen Bramall(3) and Brandon Comley(14) to push up on to the edge of our box. Neal Bishop heads the corner away but Eastman just knocks it back to Bramall on the edge of the area who moves it sideways to the free Brandon Comley who hits a 30 yard screamer into the net. Andy Cook tries to chase Bramall and Comley down but I think Mal Benning could have come out more quickly to close Comley down.

The second Col U goal was a long clearance downfield from our free kick. Otis Khan just hooks it back over his head straight to Kwame Poku who plays it to Courtney Senior who beats Matt Preston to score.

The third Col U goal was due to Conor Shaughnessy losing the ball in midfield and Cohen Bramall breaks down the left. Kellan Gordon does not block the cross and Matt Preston miskicks his clearance which falls nicely to Tom Lapslie. Conrad Logan saves his shot but Luke Gambin follows up to score.

Kwame Poku is only 18 years old.

Things we said during the game yesterday
1. Why don't we leave a man upfield when they have a corner.it should be Khan or Macca, neither of whom is tall.
2. Why were Khan and Macca playing so narrow. Neither were helping the fullbacks, either with defence or as an outlet when the fullbacks had the ball.
3. Two many passes sideways or back in our own half, rather than pushing the ball forward, either into the channel or to one of the front men. Too slow in the buildup all day
4. Why wait so long to make a substitution. Macca had a poor first half and a change could have put pressure on their defence.
