Nervy 1-0 win, however I don’t think the performance will be any different to what we’ve been seeing, particularly at home. Maynard with the goal.

It will be interesting to see if Dempsters ‘Full throttle’ comment means that he will be changing the formation to 4 at the back and/or playing a more attacking 11. Again, we’re playing against a team at home who are really struggling in Oldham. Do we really need to start with 5 defenders as well as two combative midfielders in Bishop and Macca? I think it would be tough to go ‘full throttle’ if Dempster lines up like this again.

In JD’ s interview today he was asked about Shaughnessy’ s progress . He said he is has played well in midfield but he will be part of a back 3 (5) against Oldham.

‘Full throttle’? 3-5-2, again? With Shaunessey, whom received his man of the match when playing in midfield, playing as a centre half? This formation has been found wanting since Grimsby away last season. Same players, in the same formation when we have set up not to lose.

To win, as I hope 2-0, would calm the nerves and be another step on the road to stability and the promotion that we seem to be ‘entitled’ to. I think we have enough to win the game. But to be entertained and play like the sum of the parts we have out on the pitch is another question.

So 2-0 with both goals from Maynard. (Just don’t bring every player back when Oldham have a corner)!

It's about time we gave Oldham a good beating. Most of their attacks seem to come down their right (41%) with Johan Branger (7) involved. Mohammed Maouche (10) is the playmaker in midfield. David Wheater (31) has scored two headers from corners with Oldham four goals from set pieces.
