New Manager?

Heard a strong rumour from a reliable source that the Radfords have had discussions with regards to Chris Coleman becoming the next manager, this is only 2nd hand info but as I say, it's a reliable source.

I hope not. A man who has never achieved anything in club football.

If true what are the club doing?! Chasing headlines again because he's a well known name with a well known wife?

I'd rather keep Dempster than have him.

Stupid comments.

You'd rather certain relegation than an experienced manager with connections in the game who has managed in the premiership and internationally.

Some people.

He came across very well in the Sunderland documentary that's on Netflix. He seemed to want to interact with fans and try and get everyone on side. Did the same with Wales when he was in charge, which is what we desperately need after last 6 months. Everyone would be right behind him straight away.

I'd be delighted if it were him, i'd just be slightly worried of his motivations for coming here, much like when we appointed Evans.

Coleman managed in the Premier League for five years, and took a bang average Wales side to the semi-finals of the European Championships just three years ago...but you'd rather have Dempster?

This place cracks me up at times

Imagine taking wales to a semi final in the Euros to have someone who knows nothing about football management telling you you're not good enough to manage a league 2 side...

Feel free to enlighten me what he has achieved...

The best you can do is international football (a completely different proposition) where he overachieved with Wales, did very well to get to the Semi's, and then subsequently failed to qualify for the World Cup.

Think that's slightly harsh Musings. He did alright early in his career, took a pretty much impossible job on at Sunderland (a place where pretty much everyone wanted him to stay, apart from the new owners).

The job at Wales can't be ignored either, just because its at international level.

Let's go through it then -

Fulham - Kept them in the premier league for a number of years with a pretty good squad of players. I think one year they finished top half, but I think they also went a very long period without an away win.

Coventry - 29% win ratio. Led them to lowest finish in their history. Obviously it's not gone well for them since then, so you could say poor choice of club, but he didn't achieve anything.

Sunderland - Again, perhaps poor choice of club, but had ample time to turn things around and didn't manage it.

He's had jobs in Spain, Greece and China where he didn't achieve anything.

His biggest success with Wales. Failed to qualify for World Cup 2014, did very well with Wales to get to the Semis, but the only team of note they beat was Belgium and they also had one of the best players in the world, but no doubt that they overachieved in a similar way England did at the last World Cup (but does that mean Gareth Southgate is also a good club manager?). Failed to qualify for World Cup 2016.

You cannot equate club football to international football. You see the players once every two/three months, having training sessions for 5/6 days. You don't have to worry about buying and selling players.

Theres no chance Chris Coleman will drop down to league two level.

Hes a big name but hes never actually won anything as a club manager as he ?

No titles, No cup wins, no promotions just a really good euros with a wales team which had Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey play out of there skins ?

Not sure if he would be suited to lower league football but more than happy to be proved wrong.

Musings....honest mate your making it worse for yourself with every post."the only team of note that Wales beat were belgium".a interesting thread tho I fear Chris Coleman is getting much better offers than ourselves. if true,be a massive appointment for us.

Well counteract what I'm saying then instead of just criticising it...

Just because a manager is dropping levels it doesn't make them a good manager.
