Definitely have him. He's got credentials and promotions, and he's local. He'd be our Chris Wilder.

If he’s half as good as Wilder I’d have him.

So would I, but wait until he’s been sacked by then to avoid the payoff clause

After watching Clarke's team in action yesterday we were lucky to pass on him. Reasonable players who didn't play as a team. How many passes went out play because players didn't know where team mates were.

Walsall squad is pretty poor and they don’t have a big budget.

So you'd swap him for Dempster then?

Yes, I would’ve appointed Clarke over Dempster.

But would you swap now? I think that's what he was getting at

You can't deny Clarke's credentials.

We may have beaten his team, but you don't judge a manager over a game, which I'm often reminded. It's over a season. Clarke has managed to get several teams promoted. Dempster hasn't yet.

Please tell me this is a bad dream.

Clarke has done ok but previously sacked by Bristol Rovers and now managing a really poor side . Walsall fans would love to get him out and no one knows who has what budget.

This really is one of the most ridiculous threads ever and the competition is pretty hot.

There is no evidence that Clarke would do any good here apart from some misplaced sentimentality and a desire from the same people om here to hound managers out of the club and blame Conrad for everything that goes wrong.

We will be fine and if we're not JR will deal with it but not sure DC is the answer. We would be recycling serial failure in my view.

I don't call failure leaving The Gas in a division higher than when he took the job.

Make that two divisions higher.

Clarke has a proven track record. Dempster doesn't. He may do one day, hopefully here, but given the choice of the two, I'd take Clarke. Remember that you asked me the question Yorky.

Wasn't Clarke a fairly new appointment to the Gas when they went down?

Yes you may be right actually, so only one division, but obviously given he only took over in March, he can be given the benefit of the doubt for the relegation, in my opinion.

But most on here didn’t give the same grace to DF on taking over around the same time of year and not getting us up first time.

Thing is mate there’s a difference to ‘hound managers out of the club’ to saying they would prefer a manager who’s already been promoted from this division’

There’s also a difference between ‘blame Conrad for everything that goes wrong’ and thinking our best goalkeeper should be playing instead.

Both are completely logical things to say, you just don’t wanna hear it.

One has been a manager for 19 games and has a win rate of around 26%, and the other has 9 years experience, and a win rate of over 45% which includes four (4) promotions. Yet according to some on here it is trying to 'hound out' the current manager by saying that Clarke would have been a better appointment.

I'm not sure its a case of not wanting to hear it.

Its more a case that many on here do hound Managers and get very personal - flipflop , dumpster and would far prefer to tout other Managers about than support our own. JD is starting out - DC is currently failing and based on what I saw badly failing. As many would say on here its a results game apart from when it suits.

Conrad did well on Saturday and you cant just pick a keeper returning from long term injury.

Its just so depressing to read some of the garbage on here. There are people on here who want us to fail and just cant bring themselves to post when we win. I don't need to name them - we all know who they are.

Anyway , this is a site where anything positive is frowned upon and unless you're criticising or whining you're not entitled to a view

For the record I did not want DF to go, don't want Darrell Clarke and want JD to succeed.
