I can only go on reading the report from Martin on here.
He said the main threat in the first half was down the left.
They made substitutions at half time that gave them a threat down the right that surprised him.
Is taking Maynard off and bringing Benning on such a bad decision ?
They didn't score we kept a clean sheet.
He does see threats and is very capable of changing formation.
We've come back from terrible starts to earn points with his changes.
With cook Otis Bobby and white hopefully strengthening the squad I don't see a problem if we are within a shout at Xmas or new year.

I think it is.
We were a comfortable 2-0 against a very poor side who were struggling to get a foothold into the game.
I personally (with 44 years experience of watching football) would have tried to maintain the equilibrium as Scunthorpe had not made any late substitutions to change their formation.
ie if we needed to make a change then substitute like for like.
We would in all probability have just ran down the clock and maybe won either 2-0 or 3-0, nobody would have gone home with any negative thoughts and this would have been beneficial for future games by exorcising the Leyton Orient second half.

Your reasoning can be countered as Orient was the most inept and blinkered management for many a season (well since DF 2nd half away at Macc last season ) as everyone in the ground bar JD could see a goal coming, then when he did change it, twas like for like and didn't counter their changes, it was woeful

Are you doing the league table of non-believers this year Geoff ? If so, put me down for an early 3 points as we've no chance under Dempster of being top 10.

Anything is possible. We only had one more point last season.

The injuries are coming back so the manager now has 15 plus ‘first team’ players to choose from and some decent players coming through behind them, the Leeming Street incident is in the past, our best keeper is returning and we have a new promising defensive midfielder.

So it’s all set up for a decent run and climbing the table and there can’t be any excuses if we don’t perform over the next few games.

The likelihood is that we might or might not make the playoffs. That is down to the players as well as the Manager. In my opinion, we have the strongest squad that I have seen in the last 8/9 years. The players need to show some balls and work with the Manager. The Manager needs to be less negative and only become more defensive if necessary. The team at times play too deep, especially when we have corners. Attack is the best form of defence! We are favourites to win the League for a reason!

Favourites with who ? I haven't seen that and definitively so far there's been no evidence whatsoever that we are a top half club let alone Champions Elect....a view which is held by, conservatively, by at least 50% of posters on here if not more.

It may be as much down to the players but the fear is that this Manager does not have the experience and ability to get the players performing to the level required and consequently we will fail this season. Since when do we have to accept mid table consolidation and mediocrity at best? If you are in a league you try to win it...not make do.

I'm not sure we do have the strongest squad in the last nine years.

Even if we had, it doesn't take away the fact other clubs have stronger squads Plymouth for example.

We need a few back to back wins to try to get the buzz going around the club and team
Look at the third photo in the Dempster team spirit item on the main MTFC website.

All the people on the bench and Lee Glover all looking very very glum and unenthusiastic with hands on chins and JD not looking a lot better but at least he is standing up!!

Have a look and see if its maybe just me!!

I'm assuming 81 points will be enough for automatic promotion, TOP 3 finish.

Current Table
PLD.....W......D......L......PTS........PPG
8.........2......3......3........9.........1.125 (last season we had 11 points after 8 games)

Required for 81 points
PLD.....W......D......L......PTS.......PPG
38......24.....0......14......72........1.89
38......23.....3......12......72........1.89
38......22.....6......10......72........1.89
38......21.....9.......8.......72........1.89
38......20....12......6.......72........1.89
38......19....15......4.......72........1.89

Based on our current PPG 1.125, we would finish on 52 points, which based on last seasons final table equals 19th.
