Has there been any mention of the amount of away tickets sold?

Presume there will be around 1000 considering the distance

I'll wait for the team to be announced. We could start on the back foot by having a large amount of players out of position. I'm not saying we will lose if so but will make it harder to "get going"

*waits for teamsheet to be announced with 5 players out of position and we score 2 goals in the first 10 minutes.*

It keeps getting mentioned that we need to get back to basics but I feel the manager needs to do the same. 4-4-2 and 3-5-2. Now pick your strongest available side for each position and then decide which side is stronger and go with that.

I've been an advocate of 3-5-2 but I feel our strongest side is now 4-4-2. At least until our midfield is fully fit and ready to go.

From watching the Scunthorpe highlights on You Tube it seems that their main attacking threat is the centre halfs from corners and free kicks. Rory McArdle(23) has scored three goals. Two headers from corners and another header from a free kick. Andy Butler(6) has also hit the bar. We therefore need to make sure we mark these two well at set pieces. Matthew Lund likes a shot from outside the area and scored at home against Crawley.

However the centre halfs might be dangerous at set pieces but Andy Butler is 35 and Rory McCardle is 32 so they are not the quickest. Andy Butler has been at fault for three of their goals and Rory McArdle two of them.

I have also watched the Iron Army Vlogs. He says Rory Watson has been playing well in goal and kept the scores down.

Scunthorpe Goals Conceded

Swindon (H)
Swindon scored two with two very quick counter attacks from a Scunthorpe free kick and attack.

Cheltenham (A)
Ryan Broom scored with a shot from edge of area cutting in from right
Charlie Raglan beat Andy Butler in the air with a header from a cross from a cleared corner
Addai outpaced and ran in behind Andy Butler
Josh Clarke(2) brought down Addai in area for a penalty.

Cambridge (A)
Paul Lewis got in behind Rory McArdle at far post to cross for Knibbs to score with a tap in
Rory McArdle failed to clear a cross and the ball fell down nicely to Paul Lewis for him to score.
Paul Lewis beat left back, Ntlhe, in air from a cross from the left.

Macclesfield (A)
Left back, Nthle, brought down O'Keefe for a penalty cutting in from right.

Carlisle (H)
Ryan Loft got in behind them after a bad backward defensive header by Andy Butler. McArdle lost Loft as he opted to try and cover McKirdy who was already being marked.

I see Junior Brown has also joined Scunthorpe United on loan so he should add some pace at left back to their defence.

STAGS' XI: Logan, Preston, Pearce (C), Sweeney, Gordon, Mellis, Shaughnessy, MacDonald, Hamilton, Rose, Maynard.

SUBS: Stone (GK), Benning, Bishop, Khan, Tomlinson, Sterling-James, Smith.

Can't work out what formation that will be. Maybe 352 with Nessy in midfield?

Not sure what to make of that.

Benning dropped for CJ. So from their strongest positions that's Macca, CJ, Shaughnessy and Gordon out of position. Hopefully playing the side at the bottom of the table won't show that.

Although in fairness Macca has played there for a while for us, Gordon doesn't look out of place there, CJ improved his defensive capabilities last season and I'm told Shaughnessy can play there.

I just think, on our current form we need to go back to basics and play players where they are 100% comfortable

Let's hope the new signing doesn't go missing, like Nessy

Sorry for the poor joke BTW.

I'm never happy to see CJ in a team ahead of Benning.

Mal is a far better player all round.

Mansfield boss John Dempster has made two changes to the side that faced Exeter City for this afternoon's clash against Scunthorpe United at One Call Stadium.

New signing Conor Shaughnessy - on loan with the Stags from Leeds United until the end of the season - replaces midfielder Willem Tomlinson.

CJ Hamilton slots in at wing-back in place of Mal Benning.

Striker Dapo Afolayan picked up a knock in training yesterday, while wing-back Hayden White (leg) will also miss today's match. The duo are expected to return to training next week.

STAGS' XI: Logan, Preston, Pearce (C), Sweeney, Gordon, Mellis, Shaughnessy, MacDonald, Hamilton, Rose, Maynard.

SUBS: Stone (GK), Benning, Bishop, Khan, Tomlinson, Sterling-James, Smith.

Without meaning to be the eternal pessimist, that was poor considering their league position - No patterns of play whatsoever. Would be nice to see more second half.

He looks very comfortable. He's calm and can pick a pass. Very impressed. Not so impressed by the performance. It's good to be winning but I'm not entirely convinced.
