Mansfield Town’s first team are at Horsfall Stadium this evening for the first pre-season friendly on English soil, against Conference North side Bradford Park Avenue.

The Stags side for the first half is as follows:

Mansfield Town
1st half team (3-5-2):
Aidan Stone (new young keeper, to be understudy to Logan, until Olejnik fit);
Matt Preston, Noah Stokes (scored for the Stags at Bournemouth in FA Youth cup last season), Ryan Sweeney;
Hayden White, Neal Bishop, Alistair Smith, Otis Khan, Jason Law (played in Checkatrade trophy last season);
Andy Cook (new signing from Walsall), Jimmy Knowles (from last season’s youth team, just signed pro deal).

Great to see Hayden White back for his first match since injury.

Kick off at 7.30.

2 mins: Brilliant one-two between Khan and Cook on the edge of the area, and Khan flicks just over the bar. Khan is playing just behind the front two.

5 mins: Jimmy Knowles does really well to get to the byline on the left, and his low cross is put behind for the corner. The corner from Khan is into a good area but the keeper is fouled.

15 mins: Jason Law’s corner from the right is good, Andy Cook rises and just gets his head on it but can only glance it wide of the left post.

Very sloppy defending down our left hand side for their goal. Both Sweeney and Stokes got caught out. We look a bit disjointed as you expect for an early pre-season friendly. However BPA are fielding several trialists, but look a bit more together than us at the moment.

35 mins: Noah Stokes has gone down with an injury, and there is an immediate call for a stretcher. Hopefully this is not as bad as feared.

Looks very bad from where we are. He’s in agony, really sad to see. Might be his knee cap...

It looks like a knee injury for Stokes. Desperate news for the youngster.

Stokes is stretchered off, very distressing to watch.

44 mins: a 9 minute stoppage and we’re back underway. Gibbens replaces Stokes.

45 mins: the ref blows for half time. So we’ve only had a 36 minute half.

Half time 1-0 to Bradford PA

The Stags trail 1-0 at Bradford Park Avenue at half time, but the important news is that young centre half Noah Stokes was stretchered off with a knee injury, which looks a bad one. Desperate for the youngster and distressing to watch him in such pain. We’ll hope the news later is not as bad as feared. As for the game, Bradford PA took the lead after 12 minutes when striker Garry Thompson tapped in from 6 yards. Mansfield’s best moment came as early as 2 minutes with a brilliant one-two between Khan and Cook on the edge of the area, and Khan flicked just over the bar.
