Can we keep JD longer than a year?

Postby RudyDude » Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:57 pm

The sacking of Martin O'Neill is no surprise but the tenure of our own managers has been fairly short in the last 10 years.

Is it an epidemic in football?

I'm sorry but you only have 6 months, 6 if you're, err, lucky, that is …

Can we keep John Dempster a lot longer than is the trend? Continuity may give us a better chance of success.

Will the new manager sell us Walker though.

Tbf, we're not as stable as some think, we've had 4
different managerss start the last 4 seasons.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

This is very sad, and the rules are outdated. There is not one decent online presence where Stags fans can talk about local football and all things Mansfield as a town in geneal other than Stagsnet (and some rubbish Facebook groups perhaps) Maybe we should promote the other forums more but can't mt we just chill out and not pull up anything that isn't quite Stags related, even if it is topical. Bob's board to be fair has more sub forums talking about all things football, Chesterfield and Derbyshire besides the football club and probably receives more traffic than here.

I’ve said for years that it should be just one board & if you’re going to post something you know isn’t Stags related just simply put OT in front of the title so people know it’s ‘off topic’.

Totally agree Dan. It helps keep the community engaged during slow periods at the club.

Belly pointed out a few weeks back that there was a lack of comments re D-day commemorations on the Non football side. I think this was due in the main to people either not looking at the other boards or rarely dipping into them, rather than any lack of respect by the forum users.

Maybe they mods should give using one forum a trial run and if it gets too messy revert back to the split forums.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

Well said, I only ever log in when I want to reply to anything so never visit the other forums.

In fact I’d be hard pushed to name any.

Sorry but I think this applies equally to us.

Our own managers have not usually lasted long. Ok, the Flying Scotsman departed early of his own volition but we're on our 7th manager in this decade.

I know we're all impatient for success in the form of promotion but I'd like to see a bit more continuity and loyalty.

We are probably more stable than the average L2 club. At the end of 2017/18 season the average L2 manager had been at their club for 2.12 years but 4 had been at their clubs for a long period (Tisdale, Bentley, Ainsworth and Coleman).
The average tenure for a sacked manager was 1.22 years. That is approximately 8 in a ten year period.

Sure I heard the Florists were on their 26th manager/coach this century.
It's the present that keeps on giving, along with the bedwetters it's a win win for any Stags fans working in Notts
Its only my opinion, deal with it!
