I've enjoyed the competition. The one thing that has made me smile is that the BBC have been banging on all week how the woman's game is played in the right way. No gamesmanship or bad fouls. Well that didn't happen tonight, some nasty tackles, two blatent elbows, a sending off, taking the ball into the corners with ten minutes to go.

So how is that an obvious error? Off by a painted toenail so not obvious surely, wrong use of VAR is ruining the game
The current interpretation of offside is ridiculous. It should be clearly in front of the defender. Not a toe or arm in front. Bleating about it in here will not change things though. It's FIFA that is to blame again. Does anyone know Gianni Infantino's email address?
Offside is an objective decision, not a matter of opinion, therefore 'clear and obvious' doesn't come into play. You're either onside or offside, no inbetween.
Are you happy with current rule then? Body of attacker can be level with defender but a foot or
arm in front means they are offside.
You can’t score with your arm so it wouldn’t be ruled out, would it?
Cause youth’s a mask, and it don’t last.
Live it long and live it fast.

Yes quite happy, the rule is quite clear. However minute an advantage, it’s still an advantage. And as Yella says, it’s only a body part which can score which can rule you offside.

I think VAR is making the decisions too precise, and for me that ruins the game. Of course you need correct decisions but not down to n'th degree.

The offsides called by VAR have been correct to the letter of the law, but if does seem to be sucking the life out of the game. If they are going to be that precise then maybe the rule should be changed if any portion of a body is onside then the player is onside and give the advantage to the attacker.
This tournament has been ruined by VAR for me. Some ludicrous penalties awarded, so minutely offside calls made (what happened to rectifying obvious errors) and each stopping the game for way too long.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

At the end of the day USA were the better side, we looked tired and sloppy, and Houghton's pen followed the trend as a 10 year old could've stopped it.

Stupid decisions as shown last night. If they go to that degree how will anyone ever be 'level'.?
With the movement of players going in opposite directions I'm not sure the game can be stopped at the exact micro second the ball is played and that can make all the difference when you are talking inches.
I always thought if there is any doubt the benefit should go to the attacker but that doesn't appear to be the case now.
Maybe someone should set up in business specialising in cutting toes nails and trimming eye brows or manufacture boots that stop right at the end of the toes.

Problem is its only used to the n'th degree when it suits. As I said last night when she took the pen how many Yanks were already in the penalty area, it should have been retaken

This. And I thought it had to be a clear error by the ref or lino and some of those offside decisions are too tight to be clear. Waiting 5 minutes for a decision is ridiculous.

Encroachment is only an offence if they play the ball from a rebound. A bit like standing in an offside position and not interfering with play.
Those accustomed to privilege may feel that equality is oppression.

All Lino's may as well be made redundant now, what the point of them with VAR?

VAR completely ruins the game. It should be used for major errors, not for every tiny little decision. Fans will never celebrate a goal again as they will be wondering if it is going to be disallowed because someone has a toenail offside. Madness.
