Was selling Lee angol a mistake? I know JR wanted the balance the books as we had too many strikers and Angol wasn't amazing but an extra 5-10 goals this season could have pushed us over the line. We didn't expect Davies to be pretty much injured all season

There was talk of a lack of balance in the squad & we did have a bit of midfield overload. But then we went into a season with no cover for the RWB position other than a left footed winger.

DF failed to try n give one of the young strikers a run in the side he kept switching CJ around

Rose came back from a facial injury n to be honest he never looked like scoring.... Did Rose score this Year or even this season?

Nicky got injured n came back for the last game but no one passed to him so he might as well stopped away.

DF expected Walker to score every game n we had two lads playing in the reserves scoring for fun....

I've enjoyed DF's brand of football (for the most part), his personality he was a breath of fresh air after the obnoxious Scottish manager, but it's all about results and for whatever reason he's fallen short on two consecutive seasons when it was arguably easier to get promoted than not. I'm sorry to see him go, but on reflection it was inevitable. It would have been a massive gamble to give him another year and there would have been enormous pressure on him to succeed. Thank you DF, I enjoyed 90% of the ride, now let's move forward and give JD our full support

I think DF's major fault in the 2nd half of the season and certainly in the last 5 games was panicking too much when we were under pressure and getting the team to hit more long balls when we did not have a proper target man to hold the ball up. He should have stuck to his beliefs and his passing philosophy even if we were being pressed high up the pitch and struggling to get our passing game going. When we were on song we were one of the best teams in the league. The failure to sign a back up big target man in August/January meant that we had no effective Plan B so David Flitcroft should have stuck to his Plan A to the bitter end and perhaps we would have grabbed that vital win to secure promotion.

I certainly thought we were a striker short at the start of the season. Keeping Lee Angol may have helped as he scored 9 goals in 16(13) appearances in 17/18 but we had a big playing budget so clearly had to make some savings to satisfy the Salary Cost Management Protocol requirements. Lee Angol was also a very expensive loan signing for Lincoln only making 2 sub appearances.

I also thought we needed a back up right wing back and another goalscoring midfield player. DF found himself stuck with Calum Butcher and Will Atkinson who he did not really want. I had a brief chat with him after the Retford United pre-season friendly and suggested the need for another goalscoring midfielder. DF said that was why he had bought Otis Khan and we did not currently need anybody else.

Is it possible to evaluate the value of Greg Abbott’s contribution since his arrival?

And who would have been responsible for deciding we needed a Director of Football - JR/CR or DF ?

It was well documented that DF requested this.

Can't agree re Butcher, he showed very little, looked disinterested and his body language was one of " what am I doing here", my view anyway.

the only thing he did was score at Carlisle when he came off the bench... apart from that I can't remember him doing anything!

I don't think he would have been a permanent answer but could have given us a bit of a presence on the front line when we were very light weight. He did possess a bit of muscle, which is what we lacked from February

He could also play up front if necessary and yes I do think he could have done the target man job better than anyone else we had at the time. Some Times Square pegs are the only ones you've got.

I wasn't surprised at Flitcrofts sacking after the really poor last 15 games, since 8th Feb.

The sacking of DF and the appointment of JD leaves me perplexed and concerned.

DF got the club within a whisker of promotion in his first full season. Most clubs would keep that manager in the belief that they will be promoted the following season. (Paul Cox & Ian Greaves weren't sacked after one full season for failing to get promotion). I also thought that JR was looking for a long term manager. Whatever, JR clearly didn't think he could take the club any further.

To appoint JD, with no experience at this level and without even looking to see who else is out there seems strange. (JR may feel that he has had his fingers burned by appointing the experienced Evans & Flitcroft - but they did a lot better than the inexperienced cheap options of Duncan Russell and Adam Murray).

The further concern is is this a sign that the Radfords are withdrawing from 'project promotion'? and are we going back to 'project sustainability'? I suppose we will find out by the calibre of strikers we bring in and what happens with offers for our best players over the summer.
