If we had to replace DF then Keith Hill and Ryan Lowe look the strongest candidates so far.

The thing is we dont need to replace DF as he is still our manager so this thread is pretty pointless and a bit disrespectful.

The point of this thread though Captain is to just have a chat about managers who may be available if we need them (Plan B). Some fans may think that there is not another strong candidate out there and so may conclude that the best option is to give DF another go although the DF In/Out debate is covered in the "Stick or Twist" thread.

He's not going to stay at Bury if he is not getting paid! JR would make sure he gets his money on time.

He is already rumoured to have been interviewed by Plymouth Argyle.

Alternatively, it was a sensible thread started to discuss who could take over in the vent of Flitcroft's sacking, which some thought probable rather than possible.

You always need a Plan B people. We might need it again next season if things are not working out.

I think it is time to get our Plan B out of the bottom drawer and update it.

Note: All clubs should have a list of names and a Plan B in case they decide to replace their manager or he is poached by another club. This is a thread we can update from time to time as potential good candidates become available.

Managers with League 2 Promotions
Michael Appleton (Oxford United) (going to Lincoln?)
Phil Parkinson (Bradford City)
Keith Hill (Rochdale) (now at Bolton Wanderers)
Gary Rowett (Burton Albion)
Stuart McCall (Bradford City)
Ryan Lowe (Bury) (now at Plymouth).
Darrell Clarke (Bristol Rovers) (now at Walsall)
Derek Adams (Plymouth Argyle)
Gareth Ainsworth (Wycombe Wanderers)
Nathan Jones (Luton Town)
Steve Cotterill (Cheltenham Town)
Graham Westley (Stevenage)
Steve Evans (Crawley and Rotherham) (now at Gillingham)

Managers with League 1 Promotions
Phil Parkinson (Colchester United and Bolton Wanderers)
Simon Grayson (Huddersfield Town and Preston North End) (now at Blackpool)
Paul Heckingbottom (currently at Hibernian)
Nigel Adkins (Scunthorpe United)
Neil Harris (Millwall)
Daniel Stendel (Barnsley)

Big Names
Sol Campbell
Paul Scholes

Managers with Mansfield Connections
Richie Barker
Steve Parkin
Darrell Clarke (Walsall)
Ian Barraclough
Adey Boothroyd (England U21s)
Paul Heckingbottom (Hibernian)
Alex Neil (Preston)
Colin Calderwood (Cambridge United)
David Artell (Crewe Alexandra)
Keith Curle (Northampton Town)

Promote from within - (c) Hasloan
John Dempster (Doesn't seem to be working)
Lee Glover
Mike Whitlow
Richard Cooper

Other Candidates
Michael Flynn (Newport County)
Michael Duff (Cheltenham Town)
Jim Bentley (Morecambe)
Ian Holloway
Chris Powell
Nathan Jones (Stoke City)
Pete Wild (Halifax Town)
Tim Flowers (Solihull Moors)

Any other suggestions for the Plan B list?

Not saying I'd want him, but Tim Flowers has done a good job at Solihull so far.

I'd love Ian Holloway here. Great motivator, can't see why this team that did so well last season is suddenly cack. Think he would get them going again.

Holloway would want top top money... Also you don't want to be near the man when he looses

Parkinson got to be the obvious choice?

I have to agree.

Out of contact and available. Might be expensive, but they will get the season on track.
