Caretaker manager for play-offs

Postby zygon2003 » Sat May 04, 2019 4:23 pm

Dear John Radford.

Happy to spend a fortune following Stags into the play-offs, like we all did today visiting MK Dons, but not with the current manager. Any chance of an interim? Your pal, Zygon

Usually I would say this is a crazy idea. But the team selection and performance today is a sackable offence alone. Playing macca at rwb was ludicrous.

A caretaker would be silly at this stage, it's up to JR what he wishes to do but it'll be foolish to let Flitcroft go.

He’d bite Radfords hand off for the job being a Mansfield lad. If Flitcroft doesn’t get us up it’s unacceptable.

You sir are a raspberry.

Whatever anyone thinks of Flitcroft, no one wants stags to lose. Only a flipping moron would think so.

After three straight defeats, blowing automatic promotion last week and then today, I don't know how anyone would get the players mentally ready for the play-offs. If they feel anything like I do, they won't want to see a football for months.

Not had a single beer

His lineup was too negative. And to have only Grant on the bench to look at when backs against the wall shows poor recruitment

Our play is very predictable

Lets hope we do it in playoffs, but the team is drab

This is my fear now. Paul Cox was on the radio yesterday saying that if we didn’t go up on the final day in 2013 we’d never have gone up through the playoffs because the players were physically and mentally shattered. We’ve looked shattered for a few weeks now, no real creativity, just hoping a goal will come to us. I feel the same as you also, I can’t be bothered to watch any football again at the minute and if the players feel like that it’s tough to turn around.

I agree dempster to lead the Stags through the playoffs.

Today was dreadful team selection all wrong tactics all wrong as it has been for weeks.

Time to go.

Th manage is the manager, get over it.

Any changes will be after play offs, win them and Flitcroft will be a hero again.

To even think about getting rid of Flitcroft is absolutely barmy. JR will, quite rightly, stay loyal to DF next season.

Quite rightly?

No mate, if we don't go up, chances are DF will be gone.

It would be lunacy to change the manager now but you can't say it would be 'quite right' for JR to stick with DF next season. He might stick with the manager but would also be well within his rights to change things and, after the way this and the last season have ended, I don't think there would be too many raised eyebrows if he did.

Your loyalty to DF is beginning to lurch from admirable to a little bit irritating. Don't let it get in the way of having an adult conversation and debate about the way our club is managed.

I’m sorry that my loyalty is irritating you. It’s not my (prime) reason for my stance. I just happen to think it would be counter-productive to switch managers at this stage. I also think DF deserves another season if we fail to get promoted.

Opinions, eh? I have mine. You have yours. Others have theirs. Surely there’re ingredients in “adult conversation and debate”?
