I know we have a different manager now but we have the same recruitment staff and we were very close to signing Jake Wright in the summer (Sheff U lad). Wonder if we’re in for him again? A centre half and a leader. Coughlan lives in Sheffield.

Let’s just agree that we Staggies don’t handle disappointment well. This is strange when you consider that, for most of the last 50 years, that has been the MTFC experience.

The appointment of the Scottish manager, the appointment of DF, talk of us being a future Championship club, statements like "we are going to smash the league" and of course our assumed mega budget greatly raised our expectations.

Sadly these raised expectations so far have not been fulfilled. I can't see it happening next season either.

We are now back to being what we have been for most of our existence a below average lower league club and some fans can't handle it.

Best get used to it.

Just had a neb on Brizzle forum.

We are linked to bringing Ogogo here and Bogle looks like going there.
These are my opinions , if you don't like them I have others...

He’d be a big improvement for us in midfield. Can’t see it happening though considering he’s made 20 league appearances for them this season. He also won’t want to play for Mansfield.

We are 14 (fourteen) points of the playoffs. The season is over bud. The calibre of players we bring in in Jan won't turn our season round to any great extent'

When did he say that?

He mentioned it during his post match interview Sam on BBC Radio Nottingham after the Cambridge game.

Id rather have him than Macca... I know hes technically a forward but he has played in the role Macca tries to do.

He's played as a striker/wide striker or a number 10 as far as I can see. Which position were you referring to?

Wake up mate, smell the coffee, blind faith is stupid, we are going nowhere other than a near relegation battle with these players.

Well Macca is all over the place, from what ive seen he tries to get forward or out wide. Seems this lad does the same at cheltenham, they rate him but hes not a vital part of their side.

Josh March: Forest Green Rovers sign Leamington striker
Could play Sat against us Sat .....24 in 27 games.......he is prolific at that level I would say....but could be an Ollie Palmer in League 2....surely not though!!
Bound to mess us up with a debut goal to rub salt in the wounded Stags.

Bradford would have been stupid not to recall. Even if he doesn't play for Bradford, it still hurts the hopes of a rival. He can't play for any other team as he already played for Bradford earlier in the season.

If Swindon do have a fee agreed for a permanent deal, then this is a very weird way of doing it.

I know some Bradford City fans at work and they said Eoin Doyle would be recalled even if it meant sticking him on the subs bench. They said that Bradford had played Eoin Doyle as a target man or a wide player which did not suit him as he was a poacher/fox in the box style striker. They all agreed that they would be absolutely gutted if they lost out on an automatic promotion place to Swindon.

I assume Bradford will be asking for a massive transfer fee. £500,000? If the fee was agreed before the loan deal then that was good business by Swindon.

We have a recruitment officer I believe ,has he actually recruited anybody since he has been here ? .would seem a waste of a wage .

Andrew Burgess is head of recruitment. He was appointed on the 9th July 2019. Since then we signed Donohue, Gordon, Shaughnessy, and Afolayan.

He isn't in charge of bringing players in, he will just identify possible targets based on scout reports he receives/games he watches in person or on Wyscout. The manager will then have the final say.

This is why our recruitment policy is such a mess. The head of recruitment should liaise with a director of football who have more of a say. The manager should get final confirmation but little more than that. We wouldn't then be in a position where we have a squad full of four different managers players. We could also implement a clear transfer strategy.
