Seems most strange we are training at Loughborough now. We have the facility at Pleasley, we have Brooksby and we have the training facilities at t'Mill also.
I did talk to someone on the board a couple of months ago who said DF wasn't going to come back to the RH at all anymore. What's special about Loughborough?

It's the best sports facility in the country.
I don't think he goes there just for the pitches, it's the other training tests that are the key.

Perfect preparation for MK Dons as Mansfield Town train at England’s HQ
chad.co.uk, by JOHN LOMAS, Thursday 02 May 2019

Mansfield Town have prepared in the best way possible for the big MK Dons showdown on Saturday by training at England’s national headquarters at St George’s Park, Burton.

Boss David Flitcroft wanted to inspire his squad for the big game in which they need just a point to go up and also acclimatise them to huge pitches the size of the one they will be performing on this Saturday.

A quick conversation with chairman John Radford and CEO Carolyn Radford after the 2-1 home defeat to Stevenage last weekend saw Flitcroft given the green light to use St George’s.

“The biggest factor in training here was the pitch size,” said Flitcroft.

“MK Dons have a big pitch and I wanted to players to get used to that this week and understand it.

“It is a phenomenal pitch and a phenomenal stadium.

“We’ve come here to acclimatise to that, get the coaching work in and get the geography right on the pitch.

I've reffed several times at St George's this season, the facilities and pitches are just unbelievable, I doubt there is anywhere in the World that can compete with the football facilities there. The indoor pitch is exactly the same size as Wembley, it's incredible. If you get a chance to go, just go, I think some of how good we as a nation are now has much to do with SGP.

MK’s pitch is 105 x 68 & our pitch is 104 x 64. Not really much difference is there?

Said someone that's never played on a full international size pitch. It's a small difference but you do notice it.

It's a quality pitch at MK, the ball will move quicker and that extra length will take a bit of getting used to.

Fun fact, port vale have the widest possible pitch amoungst the lower leagues and away teams have scored the least amount of goals from corners at their stadium. Doesn't make much of a difference does it?

Seeing as we play so narrow and we usually get run ragged down our right, I can't see the pitch helping???

Lincoln must have been brilliant then, as they scored four from corners that night.

Lincoln scored from four corners, a long throw and a big punt down the pitch from the keeper at Port Vale.

We had 10 corners at Vale Park and never looked like scoring.

Yet loads of people went absolutely mad on here when we took a yard off the width either side to fit the artificial grass down the side.

105x68 = 7140
104x64 = 6656

So 484 square metres bigger

Or just over 7% bigger

Quite a lot really
