Don’t Panic

Postby Showaddywaddy » Sun Apr 28, 2019 12:35 pm

I’m hugely relieved to see that people haven’t totally lost the plot after yesterday.

Drop CJ, sack DF, we’ve blown it,....all obviously crazy statements and it’s very uplifting that they’ve not been uttered once.

Would it even be Mansfield had we secured a comfortable win yesterday and all but assured promotion?

I’ll take going into the last game with it entirely in our hands and wouldn’t be one bit surprised if we raced in to an early 3 nil lead only to be pegged back to 3-3 before falling behind 4-3 and with the last touch of the game Danny Rose heads home a dramatic equaliser and gets knocked out in the process. Then an anxious wait on Tranmere as they won midweek meaning a win for them sees them up but their game is running ten minutes late as someone climbed up the floodlight. Tranmere led 1-0 in the 90th minute at Crawley when there is a mad scramble in the Rovers penalty area and Ollie Palmer slams the ball home to seal promotion for the Stags.

The dream ain’t over. Come on you Stags!!!

After any disappointing result, simply scratch the surface of Stagsnet and you will find a rich vein of negative know-it-alls and so-called fans who seem only to be happy when they’re miserable.

Imagine we were told at the start of the season that we'd be one win away from automatic promotion with one game to play. I'm sure most of us would've taken that.

We can do it. Keep the faith and keep those dummies in.

Course we can still do it and everyone on this board hopes we do. We should however, be able to call the players and management out for letting us down when they do. That's what the forums are for.

There are 4 teams vying for spots 2 & 3 to ensure automatic promotion.
ALL the fan boards of those teams will be hearing exactly the same doubts and blame-games.
All you doubters, take a step out of your fan shoes for a moment and look at the current situation with unbiased eyes.

Stags have lost two consecutive games, but the last 5 'form' table is still as follows . . .

1. Stevenage 5 4 1 0 12:3 13
2. Crewe 5 4 0 1 11:5 12
3. Forest Green 5 4 0 1 10:6 12
4. Newport Co 5 3 2 0 7:1 11
5. Carlisle 5 3 0 2 8:8 9
6. Oldham 5 2 2 1 7:5 8
7. Morecambe 5 2 2 1 8:7 8
8. Mansfield 5 2 1 2 9:6 7
9. Crawley 5 2 1 2 8:8 7
10. Exeter 5 2 1 2 7:7 7
11. Colchester 5 2 1 2 4:5 7
12. Macclesfield 5 2 1 2 5:7 7
13. Northampton 5 1 3 1 9:9 6
14. Bury 5 2 0 3 8:10 6
15. Cheltenham 5 1 3 1 5:8 6
16. Lincoln 5 1 2 2 3:3 5
17. Tranmere 5 1 2 2 2:4 5
18. Notts Co 5 1 2 2 6:9 5
19. Grimsby 5 1 1 3 3:6 4
20. MK Dons 5 1 1 3 4:8 4

On current form, fans of MK, Bury & Tranmere have far more to worry about than us.
Bury have lost by a 3 goal margin and 2 goals in their last 5
Tranmere have lost one of theirs by a two-goal margin.
MK have lost by 2 goals twice in the last 5

Stags haven't be beaten by more than one goal all season.

The other three teams should be more fearful of missing out than we should. Keep the faith!

Good post.

It's also interesting that yesterday's opponents are top of that chart.

Strangely despite their recent good form I don't think they will make the playoffs, which will be good news for us, if we fail next Saturday. On current form Stevenage would be a good bet for promotion if they managed to finish in the top seven.

The form table is encouraging.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

It's more likely be Exeter, but let's hope we can avoid the playoffs.
