They are as good as gone from the league, it is going to make it very interesting in League Two, surely we can grab one of the 5 promotion places? We have a good enough squad with the new additions. Exciting times ahead.

Will it really be 5 promoted from league 2? I thought it would be one less relegated.

Does seem strange when the bottom teams in league 2 are missing out on a possible 6 points extra.
I wouldn't be complaining though if we came 4th.
Surprised they don't a play off from 4th in league 2 and 4th from bottom.
Loser goes into play offs.

The way we’ve started we might need more than 5 places.

You think a draw at Newport is a bad result ?

2 weeks until they are gone....

https://www.efl.com/news/2019/august/ef ... c-update2/

Bury FC’s scheduled Carabao Cup fixture with Sheffield Wednesday has been suspended by the EFL Board after the Club failed to provide the additional specific detail requested in relation to a number of its financial obligations.

The Club had been set a 5pm deadline on Wednesday 7 August 2019 by the League who were seeking further information into how they planned to meet its commitments in respect of football creditor debts, payment to unsecured creditors as part of the Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA), alongside source and sufficiency of funding for season 2019/20.

Following extensive discussions and correspondence between the Club’s ownership and the League - the additional information provided lacks the clarity required and as a result of the League not being able to defer the decision any later than today, the Club’s Carabao Cup tie on Tuesday 13 August 2019 will not take place as scheduled in accordance with Carabao Cup rules.

The EFL will continue to concentrate its efforts on working constructively with the Club and Mr Dale to obtain the detail required to avoid any further suspensions.

However, the EFL Board is of the strong opinion that it cannot continue to suspend fixtures indefinitely and, after Wednesday’s deadline for information was passed without a successful resolution, it will now lift the suspension on the notice of withdrawal of membership of the EFL.

Bury were served the notice of withdrawal of membership on 25 July 2019 and it has remained suspended until today (8 August 2019).

As per the League’s Articles of Association, this will now give the Club 14 days (until 23 August 2019) to meet all outstanding requirements of the League’s insolvency policy or its membership of the EFL will be withdrawn.

EFL Executive Chair, Debbie Jevans CBE, said: “Despite continued efforts, regular communication and dialogue with Mr Dale and his team, the required evidence has not been forthcoming. Albeit regretfully, the Board has been left with no choice but to take the action it has.”

Bad for the fans, but there is little point in having them in the league if they're clearly not going to be fit and proper.

The scary thing for Bury is that the conference wouldn't accept them either so they'd be down to conference north at best - or more likely out of business.

You clearly cannot believe anything Steve Dale says. He said he had £1.6 million of funding. I thought the EFL would eventually cave in on Bury which would be bad news for Bury fans in the long term as they will will then not be able to get rid of him and he will start living off the club like Hasloan. I think the majority of Bury fans just want him to sell the club.

They cheated, spending far more than they could afford and denied us promotion in doing so... They're going out the league and should start back as low as possible. Conference North would be very very generous and an insult to smaller clubs who run properly.

Why the two week delay? They can’t fulfil the league criteria to play their games, surely that’s the minimum requirement to be a league club!

Oh dear. How do they start all over ? Surely they won't find a league this year to take them.
Really sorry for the fans.

The fans may as well start an AFC as soon as possible as there is no way they will get into a league at this point of the season. At least by starting afresh now, they won't be held to ransom by Dale wanting unrealistic rent for the ground etc. They also have a year to put some sort of ground and outfit together for next year. Other fans are more likely to put into buckets for an AFC than trying to get them to stump up for the current club

I remember when Rushden went out of business. They folded during the close season as they couldn't guarantee to fulfil their fixtures the following season. It's far more serious for Bury as they'll (as has been stated) have nowhere to go as all Leagues are up and running. R&D were dissolved and had to reform the following season. More than likely Bury will go the same way and end up starting on some local park league under the AFC banner... it'll be an awful long way back. R&D are still not back at Conf North/South level after all this time.

But Bury are much bigger than R&D though, and would probably move up the pyramid quicker.

R&D were the prototype vanity project. Once the money dried up they never had the fanbase to maintain a league club.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

Darlington is probably a better comparison, when they reformed I think they were level 9 in the pyramids

No. They resigned after the opening day of the 1992-93 when they should have played Scunthorpe away. Current League Two was then playing with two teams exempt on every weekend as current League Two was scheduled to run with 23 teams just like it was when the old Aldershot club was thrown out in March 1992. If the old Aldershot club had fulfilled their 1991-92 fixtures, the Stags had been promoted anyway as they beat Aldershot 3-0 at home and 3-1 away before Aldershot left the league.

I think we were the last team to play at Maidstone before they went bust.
A glorious win that nearly sealed our promotion.

Heady times!
