Are there any stats about how many goals we score from corners compared to other League 2 clubs? Personally, I never feel like we have much of a threat from them but am I wrong? Clubs like Lincoln probably have more of a threat from corners with people like Rheady but is this all an illusion? I loved Rheady when he was here, loved how he upset the opposition and was sad to see him go because I believe he posed a threat we no longer appear to have. Hope he fails tonight but feel that may be something missing from our armoury.
Hoping this, as inevitably happens, means that we score from a corner!

Can you start a thread about lack of wins away?

Good timing!
We’ve actually scored 7 goals from corners this season which is as many as Lincoln and Bury. Only Stevenage on 8 have scored more.
Lincoln have now scored 8 penalties ( out of 10) compared with our 2(3).

I heard a stat the other day that only 1 in 47 corners result in a goal, and in fact you are more likely to concede within 45 seconds than you are to score.

I’ve often wondered why a crowd gets so over excited at a corner being given, but less so at a free kick awarded at the edge of the box. Like you say not many goals are scored as a ratio of corners taken.

I think the ratio went up a bit when Greg Fee was here.

Ooooh Greg Fee - he could head a ball, so could Mark Peters.

We've had 243 corners this season in the league so we are just slightly better than 1 in 35

With us being near the top of the goals from corners table, 1 in 47 may be about right. It does make you wonder why we all get excited when a corner is won.

Any stats on the ratio of corners taken where the ball clears the first defender to the number of corners taken?

Around 1 in 35, roughly what we score from.

How many corners get overhit or deflected and go to the far side of the box?
If the ball goes to the far side off the box then players have to run from the goal to chase the ball and if an attacking player gets the ball it is several seconds before the ball is played back into the goalmouth and the defence has had time to reorganise.
I always think it would be useful to position a player at the far side of the box when a corner is taken so when a corner is overhit or gets deflected then there is somebody there to send the ball back towards the goal straightaway.
I also think that leaving at least 2 players upfield greatly increases the chance of a breakaway.
