0 0 tight game

Sadly we normally just want to beat the Gimps for local pride but really the 3 points more important for us than them really and think they will be out of sight from us re the top place.

We won’t finish 1st or 2nd I just can’t see it, but 3rd will do just nicely.

Given MKs draw a draw ourselves wouldn’t be the end of the world, but obv prefer a win

Login in goal again tonight I’ve heard.

Fall out between Smith & Flitcroft apparently.

They win tonight and they are effectively promoted.
They will be 12 and 13 points clear of 3rd and 4th with 8 games to go. (both 3rd and 4th need to catch them for them to fail, Tranmere too far back)
Given 3rd play 4th on the last day then one team will drop at least 2 more points.
So they will have a 15 point buffer at the very least on 4th place.
First match : 04.01.1975 home v Cambridge Utd F.A.Cup 3rd Round 1-0 Clarke

Being used to the Cowley sisters I’m surprised they’d go so upset

Another big night for Jones and Turner and I think our success tonight hinges on how well our defence holds up. Their performance was improved against Crawley so need that to continue. Jones has a big role tonight in trying to keep Andrade quiet, and we know what Akinde/Rhead are all about.

Agreed, thats the one position im worried about, Andrade is quality, Atkinson/CJ and Preston just about dealt with him at their place so will be tough for Jones.

Not sure about Logan in goal, we definitely need to cut out their crossing opportunities.

I think we will be OK, we need to win to get clear of MK Dons, draw not really acceptable.

Conrad in goal worries me with how little he tends to come for crosses, but he played well against Crawley.

Lincoln’s strong point is crosses and big physical players so we’ll need a keeper who commands his box well and comes out for crosses

BuT He Doesn't DoEsnT CoMmAnD HIs ArEa.... why is this the only bit of goal keeping knowledge anyone on here has, its means nothing. Keepers job is to stop the ball going in the net, if you do that you're good, doesn't matter if you "command the arena" what ever that is actually supposed to mean.

What it means is that any ball coming into the box that is a 50/50 between keeper & striker, should by default be a keepers ball everytime, because the keeper has reacted first to cut out the danger, either by using the extra 2ft height advantage they have to swallow up crosses or by being fast to react to through balls.

I'd say having these qualities is far more important than being a good shot stopper. If a keeper gets the command of the box right, they shouldn't have as many saves to make.

For me Conrad's biggest fault is his speed of thought, he's slow to react, which leads to him getting caught in no man's land when crosses come in and he never seems to know whether to stick or twist on a through ball.

Great that he kept a clean sheet on Tuesday night, but let's be honest he had bugger all to do.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.
