Not sure if you know about this one...

Why do the two football teams I support always let me down.

Wow, a comment linked to the youtube video mentioned we played Carlisle the day before at home!!!
I've just checked the fixtures for that season out of curiosity, what a weird set of fixtures.
We played two teams in consecutive games and several reverse fixtures were played within a week or so??

I was 11 at the time and i vividly remember a report that carlisle had applied to join the scottish league to reduce their travel costs, but were refused and if they had we would have gone up into division two, but I cant find anything about it.

The first four on your list are all midweek games and in them days they tried to get a lot of fixtures in before the bad weather, a bit like the Conference does now a days.

It was just easy to pair teams together for Midweek 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7&8

The Walsall games are just local at Christmas again a bit like conference games today.

Same as the Carlisle games at Easter. You played an Easter Saturday game but also played a 'double' with another team on two out of the three bank holidays (Good Friday, Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday). We never used to play on Good Friday as it wasn't a works shut down in them days.

The QPR home game was I think rescheduled after a postponement.

I thought that myself. It's was like an outfield player in nets.

Was there for all the home games plus remember well the Barnsley game away. Treherne was a good keeper, Brian Phillips centre half. Magical memories.

Great find and excellent watch.

Surprised that no one on Stagsnet have complained about Carlisle’s ‘Rodney Paradesque’ pitch?

I went to the Hull home game and the Carlisle home game - both were all ticket I think - I was aged 11 - remember sitting on the path pitchside for the Hull game - no segregation of fans back then as far as I recall - we missed out on promotion on goal difference I think - what days they were

After viewing this video I feel now is the time to totally withdraw my criticism of Jason White circa 2008, I now concede that you were indeed a half decent keeper. If we can find any clips of early 1970's games then Jason might be proved to be even be better than Rodney Rodney Arnold (I'll get my coat)
ps Was it Mr Cholmondley-Warner playing on the wing or Charlie Charlie Charles?

Sorry to be a pedant but we acually missed out on goal average. The fore runner of goal difference. It was something like goals conceded divided by goals scored. (or the reverse). Either way it was bloody close.
I went to last game of the season, away to Barnsley. We won 3-2 I think. A player called Bill Poynton(?) cleared off our line in last few minutes. Rumour was Bristol had lost and we would go up. Great preperation to he a stag for life. One minute up next minute down

It was so up to the 1967-68 season. Then we played Northampton away midweek early September, a few weeks later we played the Cobblers at home in midweek. The following midweek we played Peterborough away (early October), then a few weeks later Posh at home. Our Christmas fixtures were against Colchester (home on Boxing Day, away the following Saturday) and our Easter fixtures were paired against Orient (as Leyton Orient were called then). We played the Londoners away on Easter Monday 1968, then them at home following day. Just an example of pairings before our FA Cup giant-killing season. The QPR home game in 1964-65 was originally due to be played on January 9, 1965, but was postponed then. The Peterborough and Southend home fixtures in 1964-65 had also been postponed at the original dates (January 23 for Posh and March 6 for Southend)
Stockholm, July 4, 2008, 15.00 GMT. Good news came, K.H. gone. March 1, 2012. Ground purchased.

Great read ref the 1965 season. Did we really beat Man City 5-2 away in the league cup? Before my time but 11v11 website has score at 5-3. Was anyone at that game? Anyone remember it. This game against the current champions seems to have gone under the radar.

it was 5-3, that's my error (update - now amended). Stags scorers were Chapman (2), Wagstaff, MacReady, Tyrer
