Port Vale - Norman Smurthwaite

Postby Tippy Tappy Football » Mon Jan 28, 2019 12:45 pm

What a bizarre weekend for owners of clubs who are bottom or near the bottom of League 2. Port Vale Chairman, Norman Smurthwaite, was hit by a car in Burslem on Friday evening. The fans were planning a protest on Saturday but postponed it until the next home game.

Glad that Mr Smurthwaite is recovering.

But the name Norman Smurthwaite reminded me so much of the "Golden Gordon" episode of Michael Palin's "Ripping Yarns".

Jolly decent people these Port Vale fans. Nice to know they have given him a Sporting chance of being well before they abuse him.

Don't blame their fans for protesting. I've met him. He didn't come across as a very nice bloke and didn't have many nice things to say about Port Vale or their fans.

I see Port Vale have appointed John Askey as their new manager. They could end up saving County.

D3D4 keep mentioning that some of the Shrewsbury players did not think his training methods were up to scratch.

Good luck to the new owners of Port Vale. They appear to be genuine fans.
