Sorry, but with the effort the club put into getting the offer out there., is there any wonder that the wider public know nothing about it. A few adverts on radio Mansfied is not enough. It's almost like they want these offers to fail, to prove a point.

Wow... What are you exactly expecting.

Also don't believe everything u read on stagsnet as the ticket sales look in a far more healthier state on stags tickets than this time before the Tranmere and Swindon matches.

The way some of the posters go off regarding attendances you wouldn't think this has been our highest average attendance since 2004.

Only 808 tickets left on the online ticketing system but that is obviously zero indication of the true number.

This might seem daft but there may be some method in the madness of not going for a hard sell on this free ticket offer.

At our current capacity we have just about 7,000 seats for home fans and filling 4,000+ each home game. If the club went for a saturation bombing approach to the advertising & Mansfield being Mansfield 5,000 munchkins with SKY TV following parents in tow turn up at 2:30 on Saturday only to be told the ground is full, all that will be achieved is a load of negative publicity for the club.

Sell it soft, and even if you get 500/1000 extra bodies in on Saturday, the whole experience should be better for everyone and cost neutral to the club. If we had 15,000 spare seats to sell then dropping thousands of tickets at local schools would make more sense.
Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

There's an argument here that the club have done their side of the bargain by making it free to get in, and being 2nd in the league - it's a bit rich to go and then expect them to pay for a suite of multi-media advertising of something to get people in the ground for nowt. I agree though that there should have been some sort of 'pass it on' theme that is crowd-sourced and everyone could get involved in, like printable posters, etc.

Mark a poor comparison is if a Ferrari dealership made all cars free for a day, i'd miss out and only find out after the event. They put on a deal for a quality product for zero cost.

I would have gone but only found out too late because I wasn't made aware of the event taking place. Im aware of the product (MTFC) and of the quality (League Position) but had no idea it was selling for free as I never would expect it to do so.

This is what the reaction will be for many next week.

I don't think anyone has suggested investing significant sums into marketing. My idea of each player popping down to a local school for 30 minutes to give a little speech on keeping healthy through exercise and diet followed by plugging the deal costs nothing but time, the players then come back midday to crack on with training.

Alternatively a phone call to local schools, email a flyer to put up in schools is at minimal costs. Word of mouth in the main is free and would have advertised the deal itself if the snowball effect had started when the deal was first announced.

Paul called me back and said the Stags media team were advertising in local schools. They could have told all schools and then somewhere comms get lost but think the idea of the players visiting schools for assembly is a cracking idea. Don't forget many may turn up on the day.

Well done Mick appreciate the update and also credit to Paul for taking time out to get back to you.

I think we are all happy to contribute ideas towards helping the club succeed because we all have a vested interest in it doing so and more importantly want it to succeed. Hopefully the club are willing to listen (which Paul clearly is) and engage with fans in how to promote offers in future.

I sincerely hope the town and local area's come out to support the club in its numbers.

It does make me wonder sometimes. How can the club do any more to advertise this deal .Its all over the place. If you don’t know about it you must have been locked in a cellar for the last week or so .Most kids spend all day on mobiles looking at Facebook,Twitter ,websites etc .
It’s on the radio in the local paper.Other than send out the child catcher there’s not much more we can do.
If I posted my dingle on Facebook everyone in the town would know within 24 hours .
Come on chaps ,everyone knows about it . :mtfc:

Since when has suggesting constructive ideas on how to get the message out been a negative wind up?

Don't confuse negativity with passion or a will for something succeed. As I've said before I want the offer to succeed (desperately so) for everyone associated with the club, i get passionate and even frustrated because I care.

you're not looking very hard if you can't see negativity on this thread.

Don't tar the majority with the minority Martin, most of us think this is a fantastic offer, has been well advertised and more generally that the club is better run now than it has ever been. We have serial whiners on here, but I think most Stags fans are pretty much as enthusiastic, hopeful and excited about our club than they have ever been.

I'm not. It's a great deal. You'd be hard-pressed to find an under 18 that doesn't use facebook and the offer has been massively pushed on there.

I agree it's a minority of people being negative, and they've made plenty of comments on this thread.

TBH - if only a silly number like 50 became hooked, you've a fan and their money for life.

Offers like this bring untold riches if it can entice even just a few in for the long run.
