Interesting....looks like the start of an recruitment team which DF was talking about a few months ago.

Welcome aboard Gregg.

Another name for Director of Football, commonly known as Interference Officer??

Strange one despite DF saying all the right things??

As long as his role is subordinate to the manager and he takes his instructions from DF then it's good news, otherwise might be an interference.

I can understand why we are all so sceptical after Hasloans and listening to Evans' bulls*** but hopefully not this time.
I think as everything JR and Carolyn have told us has proved to be true and honest we must accept the statement at face value.
DF seems to genuinely believe its in our best interests and that its makes sense to free him up to do the things he has proved good at. This model seems to be more successful than the current arcane structure so good luck to us.
Just another example of the progress we are making

The important part was Flitcroft saying he has the final say.

I would assume it would work in the way that Flitcroft says who he wants, Abbot goes and gets them. Looks like he's been tasked with finding new youth talent as well.

Seems a positive move.

Hopefully all sorted with the full cooperation and involvement of DF. Seems to me that the club are making such great strides on so many fronts, and with an ambitious Chairman/CEO, David Flitcroft was in danger of having to spread himself too thinly - especially with the transfer window looming large. Onward & upward !

I would be very surprised if this wasn't DF's idea. I don't think JR is the type of owner who would bring someone like this in without the manager wanting it.

Lot of Bradford fans saying negative things about him, hoping none of it true.

Loads of people said negative things about Flitcroft from past clubs - you just have to give the benefit of doubt and hope for the best.

I have heard Flitcroft complaining about getting calls from agents, distracting him from preparing the team for matches. So I'm pretty sure this is his idea.

It's interesting to hear a manager say they really want to focus on the football and happy to step back from the business aspect of it. Essentially now being head coach more than a traditional manager.

If it means he can spend more time improving the players, and assuming the new bloke can do some good business then good luck to them.

Not really a fan of this type of appointment, and I find the timing of it strange. Personally I’d rather Flitcroft deal with agents and transfers first hand as I think he did a good job in the summer. It’s another wage on the books too that could have gone elsewhere.
That said this seems like it was Flitcrofts idea so as long as it doesn’t cause any problems so be it. Glad to hear that he still has final say on recruitment etc.

Its a bit of an odd one this ,,think DF must back it ,if your going to have a director of football ,better to have somebody you know and trust ,assuming he knows him from his time at bury or in that area ,it shows how much its changed over the years ,no wonder cloughie got out when he did he wouldnt have stood for it but now its the norm

What’s the issue ? Some managers don’t do contracts and financial. It’s a bit like my new job. I’m doing the operational side and the PM does the projects and budgets.

Don’t worry belly.

Some fans still think the magic sponge is state of the art treatment in physiotherapy and doing 20 laps round a pitch is how you best train your body for football.
