Good effort 3 days before Christmas.

Hopefully more people will get to away games in the new year and push this team all the way.

A great day out - the support was fantastic given the timing and games to come. The noise was inmense.

Have to say I think the Stevenage media and manager must have been watching a different game

I thought Dino Maamria gave a fair summary of the game. He said that Stevenage did not deserve to be 1-0 up at half time but they played a lot better in the 2nd half and did not deserve to lose 3-1. If they had scored from the corner when they hit the bar then it could have been a different game. I thought that was fair comment although the Stags deserved to win the game on chances created. It was Stevenage 0.6 Mansfield 1.8 on XGs (Expected Goals (XGs) measure the probability of a goal being scored based on chances created).

Mansfield probably had more chances in the first half to score but we were a lot more clinical in the 2nd half.

I don't agree that he gave a fair summary. Maamria said the scoreline was "harsh". But Stevenage basically had just the goal and the shot against the bar as decent chances. We had many many more than that. So it was not a harsh scoreline at all.

1-3 was harsh on Stevenage after being 1-0 up at half time and playing better in the 2nd half but a Stags win was fair.

Dino is wearing his manager's hat. If we were 1-0 up at half time and played a lot better in the second half, had a spell of pressure and hit the bar then we would be gutted to lose 3-1. You can understand where he is coming from.

I think it actually helped us that Stevenage had more of a go at it in the 2nd half. They gave us a lot more problems up front but also gave us more space at the back. If they had just sat back and defended as in the first half then we may have struggled to break them down.

The scoreline was harsh on Stevenage, it should have been 6-1.

Have to agree, Stevenage struggled to get out of their own penalty area let alone half in the first 20 mins.

To have 59% possession , twice as many shots , three times as many shots on target and receive fewer bookings is very impressive for an away team .

Liked the posters inside the ground saying welcome Mansfield fans to Stevenage thank you for travelling .

We actually got two bookings (Preston and Mellis) to their one (Ionnton) but it is still not a bad card count. The nature of the bookings was disappointing though. Preston for pulling his man back wide on the pitch but I guess that’s a calculated risk he took. Mellis for arguing about a throw in is ridiculous and we’ve picked a few similar bookings up this season (although maybe less than last season.)
