Bury FC - "Even the Hacienda Was A Better Run Club"

Postby Tippy Tappy Football » Wed Dec 12, 2018 9:40 am

Stuart Day has sold Bury FC after buying Bury in May 2013. The new owner is Steve Dale. Bury made a loss of £2.5 million in 2015-2016 and £2.8 million in 2016-2017. They also owed creditors around £7 million with most of the money believed to be owed to Stuart Day's company, Mederco Ltd. (Mederco's accounts the year ended 31st December 2016 show that it had debtors of £5.8 million). Bury owe £878,000 on hire purchase contracts. Fans of the Shakers are waiting to hear what is going to happen to the loans owed to Mederco. Football Finance expert, Kieran Maguire, tweeted that even the Hacienda was a better run club than Bury.

Bury made a loss of £1.8 million in 2014-2015 when David Flitcroft guided them to promotion in 3rd place in League 2.

Losses
2016-2017: £2,819,311
2015-2016: £2,518,530
2014-2015: £1,831,182
2013-2014: £1,602,130
2012-2013: £720,688

Didn’t Bury sell their ground a few years ago to finance their spend

I think they put together an horrendous financial arrangement at a v high interest rate

We are v lucky - and the detractors on here need to understand how well we are doing at all levels. It is interesting some don't post when things are going well

Read the numbers above and breathe a sigh of relief

If i remember correctly the running of the Hacienda was a shambles costing Factory Records, Tony Wilson and ultimately New Order a fortune. Does this mean the new owners will rename Gigg Lane to Fac 51??

But it was one hell of a place to get off your head to, when dance music was in its ascendancy in the early 90's.

I saw a lot of strange things in the early 90’s, not due to lime green jelly more due to the magic beans!
