Said it at the time but why on earth did we not just go for it in the last 15/20 of the original tie?

There was a very slim chance of going there and winning tonight and didn't help an already congested period. Even if we conceded from a breakaway what do we lose? Draw and we were more than likely out anyway.

Now we're left having to deal with this. Seems as though the scoreline is very flattering, but our "top striker" doesn't score again and we ship 5 goals. Dampens the mood ahead of an important game no way of dressing it up.

Pathetic really to fall apart in such a manner. Hopefully doesn't affect us come saturday, but a concern. Also shows how reliant we are on Bishop and how much we drop in quality once our first string are out.

Draw a line under this and forget it. Still on a great run in the league. Back to winning ways Saturday.

So many missed chances! We deserved to win and somehow lost 5-0.

The ref should be banned for a few games after that decision for the 3rd goal.

They only had 7 shots on target and scored 5. Our goalie had a shocker!

They scored 3 from in the 6 yd box. An open net and a glorious lob.

Taylor was excellent.

It was all over when we gave up after the ref changed his mind for the free kick that led to their third goal.

I'd take a 5 nil battering in the freezing cold if it meant winning on Saturday.

We were never going to win the fa cup anyway.

Sounds like 2.5. Would’ve been a fair result . What do we do with 10 corners and all those shots ..? That’s what puzzles me. Let’s move on and put it rights saturday..COYS.

We just have to put it behind us and now focus on the league - which is much more important.

One thing though for the training ground .......... How many corners have we had this season and how many goals have we scored from corners? We really need to work on this ..... especially when we have 3 centre-halves on the pitch!

Can’t see anything on FA website to suggest Benning is now banned from looking on the ‘one booking away’ section, but if he is that’s another blow. Hopefully it is up to date and he isn’t now suspended.

I used to like bowyer as a player, not always a likeable person but the type of player you want on your side, not heard his comments but seems a fair reflection.

I can remember shipping five goals to Matlock Town in an FA cup tie. We got promoted that season.

Fixtures have come thick and fast recently, so maybe a rest on the day of the second round will benefit us. I agree with the earlier comment, we should have gone all out for the win in the home game as this game was one too many. Especially as we won't earn any decent money for it, the attendance was unbelievably low.

We need to get things sorted quick sharp, before we face the Imps.

and that Matlock game was at home. As I recall they had five breakaways and scores each time.

Of course guttering to go out of the FA Cup but we have only lost 3 games this season and in a great position, then in the Checkatrade competition. If not for some bad refereeing decisions, we should have gone through the first leg.

We should have beat Charlton in the first game. We were in a great position but dropped deeper in the 2nd half, switched off for 10 minutes and gave away a sloppy (offside!) equalizer. You have to take your chances when they come your way which is the story of our season.

Yes, but basically the ref has admitted that we did beat them, except that he mistakenly allowed an offside goal.
With tonight's ref also being biased, hopefully luck will even out in the League.

Dare I say it could be a blessing in disguise? Nobody likes the lose 5-0 but after the recent run we've had there is always a chance complacency might creep in at some stage, thats not saying we where tonight.

But it will have certainly have given the players a shake and it will be down to DF to get them refocused and down to the players to put it right on Saturday.

If I had to choose either the game tonight or Saturday to be a heavy defeat tonight hands down would have been it. Hopefully they can dust themselves down by responding against Lincoln and give out a heavy defeat of our own. Given the chances we create its going to happen to someone at some point.

Regarding the FA Cup maybe next year.....

Everyone knows this, including Flitcroft. Solving the problem is another matter. Reasonably priced clinical strikers are a rare species. We need to stop worrying about getting another striker and help ours along.
