Can you confirm time of first goal, Martin, as the BBC have it has 8 minutes, thanks

Do you mean 7th minute, ie after 6.00 minutes?

I think the stadium announcer said "in the 6th minute"

I think the BBC were a couple of minutes out generally last night Pete, when I scraped the live text for my records they had the first 2 corners in the 10th minute when they were definitely around the 7th and 8th minute. Wonder if they got their info from the same place as the score on ifollow, as it didn't register that we'd scored for a couple of minutes too.

I had it on a stopwatch and that's about right.

5 minutes and 5 seconds, so 6th minute. iFollow had the time right but took then a couple of minutes to change the scores on the graphics.

On the Man of the Match dilemma, Bishop made a midfield howler which nearly cost us a goal ("Leave it me me, lads - oops"). Had it gone in he definitely wouldn't have been a contender, and no thanks to him that it didn't. Preston had a few dodgy moments.
Pearce was fantastic, but defensively we were very lucky to get away with it on several occasions so I wouldn't have awarded any defender anything. Olejnik was yet again excellent, and kept that comfortable cushion available which helped confidence.
Hamilton hardly ever beat a defender down the wing, few of his characteristic surging runs out wide - mostly just a short run then a pass. Which was OK, and he certainly made his mark. Pity about the finish when through on goal.
Mellis, Elsnik and Walker were the pick of the rest. Walker blotted his copybook slightly with a couple of spurned opportunities (but which striker scores all of them?), but was first rate. Elsnik showed everyone what to do, and seemed to free up Mellis to allow him to play his best game. So I think that it would be between the three of them and I wouldn't argue against any, but for me it was Mellis as he was so consistent and influential throughout.
Mention should be made of the hapless Kirk!
Also I thought that the ref did an excellent job, allowing the game to flow, being decisive, and not being fooled by play-acting (it has to be said, often by Rose). Such a contrast with Stockbridge.

Agreed Bradders. First half we didn't defend well, we were just lucky. A number of times from throw-ins, Crewe fashioned crosses that were then not dealt with. How they didn't score from one particular cross I'll never know, but our full backs weren't stopping balls coming in and Pearce failed to beat the striker to it on at least one occasion. Second half they were much better with 4 at the back and both centre halves were less stretched. Mellis MOM for me.

Reminded me of the Newport home game - looked very comfortable in the end but they had really good chances, and if they'd have scored any of them then it might have been a different game.

I’d like to see the Crewe analyst footage, I was sat very close to the White/Kirk incident and it didn’t look like there was any contact at all never mind a headbutt , I think 300 of us were in agreement that is blatant simulation by Kirk and he should have received at least a yellow card

Its the bit where he looked up to see if he caught the refs attention then continued to cry about it on the deck which really got my goat up. Then to kick pearce after

I had a really clear view and I guarantee that White did not headbutt Kirk. There was no contact between heads. It may have appeared different from the other side of the pitch but it was right in front of me and I was watching carefully.
