We have now officially played each team once. As i did last year working on the basis that if you win at home and draw away i.e take 4pts per team you'll get 92 points .Below is the road map for the remaining reverse fixtures and outcome required to secure 4pts against each team.

The defeat against Exeter means only 3pts rather than 4pts are attainable setting 91pts as the starting target.

Bury H (W) (W) +0 91pts
Swindon H (W) (D) -2 89pts
Grimsby A (D) (W) +2 91pts
Carlisle A (D) (L) -1 90pts
Yeovil H (W) (L) -3 87pts
Colchester A (W) (W) +0 87pts
Tranmere H (W) (W) +0 87pts
Macclesfield H (W) (W) +0 87pts
Newport A (D) (L) -1 86pts
Notts County A (D) (L) -1 85pts
Forest Green H (W) (W) +0 85pts
Cheltenham H (W) (W) +0 85pts
Port Vale A (D) (L) -1 84pts
Crawley A (D) (D) +0 84pts
Lincoln H (W) (D) -2 82pts
Crewe H (D) (L) -1 81pts
Exeter A (W) (W) +0 81pts
Cambridge H (W) (W) +0 81pts
Northampton A (D) (D) +0 81pts
Morecambe H (D) (W) +2 83pts
Oldham A (W) (L) -3 80pts
Stevenage H (D)
MK Dons A (W)

2 games remain - 1 Win 1 Draw will give us 80 points.

COYS!!!

MK Dons only achieving a point at home from lowly Port Vale is a blow to their automatic promotion hopes too.

We are still in the top three, if MK Dons had won at home today, which I'm sure their supporters expected, we would have been out of the top three.

All still to play for.

MK dons board is suicidal and some think they'll bottle it / already have done.

The 4th of May is gonna be one nervous affair if its all on the line. We need to get back to winning ways next Saturday and put the pressure on.

I think we will win next week and Colchester will beat MK.... then we'll loose to MK and go up on Goal difference.

Colchester are in a similar situation to Stevenage. A win and it could put them in the playoffs. As we are at home and MK Dons are away we should have the better chance of winning. Oh if things were that simple. All we can do is keep the faith and give the team our fullest support.

I'm assuming 81 points will be enough for automatic promotion, TOP 3 finish.
the MAXIMUM the 4th placed team can now achieve is 80 points ;)

Current Table
PLD....W.....D....L....PTS....PPG
44.....20....16...8....76.....1.73

Lots & lots of different scenarios now, it's any 2 from Bury, Stags, MK Dons, FGR & Tranmere.

Stags v Stevenage
Tranmere v Bury
Colchester v MK Dons
Crewe v FGR

MK Dons v Stags
Bury v Port Vale
FGR v Exeter
Crawley v Tranmere

if we beat Stevenage and mk lose, that should be it surely? I don't think it'll be as easy as that though

Then they would need to beat us 5-0 to overtake us.

So the script knowing our luck reads as follows:

We win and mk lose next week.
Mk then smash us by 5-0 to claim automatics.
We then win the play-offs.

#TheHardWayTheEasyWayTheMansfieldWay.

Either way regardless of results Saturday (baring any big goal difference swings) we have likely secured a guaranteed shot at promotion on the final day. If (big if) we beat MK we go up - that could mean we along with MK and FGR finishing on 79pts but goal difference plays the defining factor.

Anyone else nervous yet? ;)

Forest Green are still in with a chance of automatic promotion.

It's in our own hands still. I would have taken going to MK Dons and having to win after the Crewe home defeat. Hopefully it will be even better than that.

Apologies if someone has posted this before.
Form from the last 5 games, average points.
FGR … 2.4
Stags … 2
MKD … 1.4
Bury … 1.2
Tranny … 1

multiply that out in points
Stags … 80
Bury … 80
MKD … 79
FGR … 78
Tranny .. 74

Other teams are stuttering much more than us.

A noisy home support and getting off to a high tempo start is crucial on Saturday.

:coys: we can do this

We need to keep it in our hands. Ie we equal or better MKs result on Saturday. Then again would going there knowing a point would be enough actually work against us mentality wise.

It's twitchy bum time now. All we can do is get behind our boys ans hope they do the business.

We've really needed to win at Northampton and Oldham, then well....

If we do that at MK we're buggered, quite simply.

All we need to do Saturday is beat Stevenage and hope results go our way - we could draw Saturday and lose to MK and still go up if Bury lose twice.

Ideally - we'll beat Stevenage, Bury and MK lose and then it's in our hands - we'd still have the backup option of Bury losing should we not beat MK

If we win Saturday then we need to draw against MK - something we did in one of those games you mentioned above.

Top 3 is 50/50 now.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

Whichever way we get 4 or 6 points will be enough. If by chance we win Saturday and MK lose then happy days, league 1 here we come. I think Stevenage will be a very tricky game. It’s damn exciting though!!!

Hopefully We will win Saturday and MK will lose at Colchester. That will then mean barring a 5-0 defeat last game of the season we will be promoted..

What chance though we go 3-0 down away at MK before half time and have to hang on

We never do things simple :?

Just got to try and stay positive, 1 game at a time, win on Saturday and lets see what happens elsewhere, I cant see Mk beating Colchester and Bury beating Tranmere.

Following Stags 3-1 Macclesfield on 2nd February, Stags were on PPG 1.87, over 31 games, which over a season would have totaled 86 points.

PLD...W....D....L....PTS....PPG
31....15...13...3.....58....1.87

However, since 2nd Feb our form is,

PLD...W....D....L....PTS....PPG
13.....5....3....5.....18.....1.38

The 2 lost matches at Newport and County may cost us this season as they would have given us at least 4 points extra if not 6!!
They were bad games to lose
