81 Points

Is 81 points the magical figure to see the Stags promoted to Division 1......

If we can get 3 points more than either Bury or Mk dons ( and keep a better goal difference ) from the next three games then the last home game could clinch promotion. Otherwise it’s all down to the last game of the season .

Kirkby has a whole other thread on this and keeps us updated on what we need to do to get to 81 points!

I hope its not that close, the nerves just couldn't cope, I was a physical wreck after Saturday! I want it done and dusted before the MK game so we can go down there and party likes it's 1987.

It’s in our hands, which is the most important thing. Even now we can go to Franchise and get a draw and it world be enough if both the teams win all the other games. We’d finish third behind Bury but above Franchise on goals.

I don’t think it will come to that as I reckon Bury are crashing and burning.

Was hoping there wouldn’t be any cocky quotes regarding going up early.

Just look at what the Bury fans were salting two weeks ago.

Biggest hurdle will be the Easter weekend fixtures.

The next couple of games are going to be massive, and I wouldn't swap any of our next 2 for any of Bury's or MK Dons next 2 - Tranmere and Newport away are two of the toughest games of the season. Its not inconceivable that we could be going to Oldham needing a win to go up.

I will not calm down, we’ve had automatic promotion in our own hands with 5 games to go maybe 4 or 5 times in the 40 years I’ve been watching, so in contrast to my usual behind the sofa curmudgeon outlook, I’m going full irrational tilt at it - raspberries or passed out bust! If I thought that anything I said on an Internet forum had any influence on anything, then Kelly Brook would be cooking me egg and chips now.

What makes it more nailbiting is I think 3 wins will do us and you would think our 2 home games are winnable BUT we tend to struggle against the lower sides who sit back and we cant break down.

A win on Saturday would be huge though!

Easter usually has a habit of kicking us in the gonads. Very often we achieve 0 out of 6 (last season being an example)
Last time we went up in 2002 we conceded 9 goals over the Easter period (ouch)
