We feel your pain bud ;) :P

  That was thanks to H*slam.

Surely you're due a return by now bud? Or does the proximity collar detonate if you venture further than 2Km from Meadow Lane??? :P

If big Stevey H can be welcomed back into the fold then i'm sure you could too. Although i appreciate your job is easier at NCFC, by the fact their players don't run around trying to win the ball :P

I used to play 5 a side with a few from Radio notts and derby, that's how I met Charlie, used to be a really nice chap... all ill say about him now is since covering Notts County he thinks he's billy big raspberrys and a lot of people have taken a disliking to him. Also got told he described his time covering Mansfield as "miserable" and "had to do it to get to where he is today" He'll be great doing non-league coms.

I think the 'got told' stories are very mischievous when you haven't been told it first hand and can whip up completely unnecessary ill feeling, and Christ knows the world is full of that now sadly.
I certainly didn't get that impression from him when I met him at the cricket, came across as a good bloke, just to balance things up perhaps.
I remember him doing the weather wearing a Mansfield Town tie, so it couldn't have been miserable all the time.
You may well be right about the first part if that's your personal experience but the 'got told' stories aren't worth spit for me.

Spot on Mr Grimsdale. You seem to always have a story about something you've seen or done Sedgwick yet can never back it up with evidence. It's always "I've seen this" or "I've seen that" yet I've never seen you back it up with evidence, like these Stags shirts you reckon you saw.

I see Charlie all the time & numerous times after the match the first thing he says to me is "your boys done good again" & looks genuinely pleased for us if we've won. At the end of the day he's a Man Utd fan because that's where he's from. I've worked for Notts County for well over 10 years but I don't support them. Charlie will always have a soft spot for us and probably for Notts when he moves onto pastures new. Jesus give the guy a break he's just doing his job (& he does it really well too).

Just to echo what Martin, Grimsdale and Dan have already said. I also had the pleasure of working with Charlie for around a year and a half - and he's a decent chap and a very good professional. He's got a soft spot for the Stags, but he's a Manchester United fan (from Manchester... who'd have thought it! ) He certainly didn't 'bend over' for Notts County... he was offered a great position with the BBC and for the sake of his career he'd have been insane to turn it down.

I thought Dan got banned because he had HASLAM OUT as a screen saver on his laptop while uploading match action pictures during the game....

Didn't a Steward report it back to HASLAM with Dan being thrown out during the game then banned from the ground......

Top man Dan I've still got my HASLAM OUT badge....

As the steward who reported him, i can confirm this was the case.

Only joking!!!! :P

Dan will probably confirm, but that's how i remember it. Either way, it's a shame he has to dirty his camera lens down the A60 each week ;)

I was stood in front of Dan when it happened. I think it was as much the finger being waved at the box that did it for good though. :)

   Thank you for the support oldweststander, SINA & mutiny.

Without taking the thread off topic SINA is spot on with what happened that day. I'd been taking pics of all the HASLAM OUT signs all along the A617 & had set one as the wallpaper on my laptop (I wasn't working for the club then). When I turned my laptop on the fans behind that had seen it all cheered & a steward grassed me up to H*slam. Bearing in mind at the time we were having all those problems with the stewards & I'd taken pics of them assaulting young kids on the pitch etc so they were itching to get revenge on me which they did by assaulting me at the end of the season (https://www.chad.co.uk/news/stags-stewa ... s-1-690828) I had the last laugh though as the photos I got of them assaulting kids got them sacked, see here: https://www.chad.co.uk/sport/football/m ... e-1-690923 & https://www.chad.co.uk/news/fans-anger- ... s-1-690882

Next thing I knew there was about 6 of them around me telling me I had to leave the stadium. I asked why & they just said 'orders from the chairman'. I looked up at the directors box & he was puffing on his cigar (which he shouldn't have been doing) & smiling. So I packed all my gear up & as I was being escorted down the front of the West Stand another steward came over & he said "You've been banned for life so don't try & come back" & I asked what grounds and he said the chairman had told him to tell me. I wasn't too sure this was true because of what I've just said about the stewards but when I looked up at the directors box again he was smiling at me & blowing his cigar smoke into the air. So I thought right if I'm getting banned I'll make sure I get banned for doing something so I gave him the finger which got a cheer! He didn't see me the first time so I waited for him to look at me & I did it again just to make sure he'd seen me. I then got arrested for a public order offence 'because it happened inside a football stadium'.

Lots of other things happened after that. I went to Chester the week after for our game & H*slam had told them I'd been banned from every ground in the league for assaulting him! They weren't going to let me in but in the end they did but wouldn't let me pitchside, they made me sit in a sterile part of the stand between the home & away fans! There's more here: https://www.chad.co.uk/news/so-who-did- ... n-1-688070

I'm not banned anymore but Stags have got their own (excellent) club photographers now so that boat has sailed but I still love coming back home.

Without the likes of you and those who refused to tolerate Haslam's misdeeds the club wouldn't have been where it is today, Dan. In fact I have my doubts as to whether there would be a professional football club in Mansfield at all. I don't think Haslam has ever experienced the love for a football club. His loves are his reflection in a mirror and Mammon. He may be a rich man now but we, The Stags fans, share a love he will never have or understand. You can be proud of your stand against him Dan. Haslam is history. And you did your part in putting him there.

Ferris Bueller, you're my hero!!

Seriously though Dan, I agree with Wilf. Although at the time we didn't perhaps realise, it was things like this that helped turn the tide in a favour. Without standing up to that Calver carcinogen who knows where this club would have ended up.

If I see you after a game the first pint's on me ;)
You get the next ones afterwards though! :P

The first time I saw the screen saver, I had to laugh, you were sat in front of the west stand with the screen angled perfectly towards him. I knew it wouldn't end well in the short term for you, but the subsequent publicity added fuel to the fire of ousting him for sure. You did your bit Dan, as did many others, but it was certainly a highlight.

Spot on Wilfred n Dan I remember that day as it was yesterday we all thank JR for putting in the hard work n money for saving the club but if it wasn't for the fans that stood up n protested n made the life of Haslam so miserable with banners at the ground on lamp posts chants getting other fans involved like Doncastor wearing haslam out Tshirts the fight to rid him was tireless n there's a lot of fans who now sit quietly in the shadows proudly thinking I helped to save our club.

Yes in hindsight that wasn't the brightest thing I ever did

The reason I was so vocal about it long before any of the protests was because I had seen things first hand, heard him say things about taking us to the Conference, stuff about Team Mansfield & the SSA & also, without dropping anyone in it, I could see his & the clubs financial statuses plus all the County Court Judgments etc which is why I kept saying things on here which a lot of people thought I was mad. I even went to a few Team Mansfield meetings to tell them what I knew but got laughed at as having an obsession with H*slam but it was because I could see what he was doing to our club & felt helpless trying to stop it. Thankfully it all turned out in the end.

well, you didnt help the situation, did you?
you werent exactly reticent about bad mouthing him on here, at the time.
given that you posted under your full name it was not a very bright thing to do.

Apologies for trying to save OUR football club. I was right all along though wasn't I? Plus it was nothing to do with being on here.

not having a go, just stating fact, I even told you at the time that you were daft saying the things you did on here, under your own name, being as you were working in the ground, in effect for the calver cowboy. he had his spies on here, you can be sure, who went toadying back to him with every little negative morsel posted on here.
whether you were right or wrong is immaterial.
my one regret is...i have no regrets!

Aren’t they in court tomorrow to pay the Tax Man? Big Al has already said that he will pay in early May. Or will it be the new owners?

I thought all goals had to be the same size 8yds by 8ft? Or is it something different at one end of the Macclesfield pitch?

Great result for The Macc. Counteh and Yeovil now two points adrift at foot of table. Such a shame!

Think it's the first time Macc have been out the relegation places all season.
