I’m really struggling to see what he has achieved at County, he got one of the biggest non league clubs into the play off eliminators, and got eliminated without so much as a whimper.

If I was a non league County fan I’d be glad to see the back of him, their owners appear more interested in mathematical theories than the good old fashioned “av it” mentality required to get out of the hell hole.

Me too, he's hardly pulled up any trees. I'd be looking forward to bringing in a new manager with new hope.

Unless the thought is that he's overachieving with what he's been given at Notts, and could do better with more financial support.

My view, Cox is the ideal fit for Notts.

County could do a lot worse than Cox. He knows that level so well.

It will get them out of the National League as it did us.

It's not worked for anyone else. You need to be better now, it's so competitive, hoofball won't get you out as it did for us.

Lincoln City and Sutton United won the National League with direct styles of play.

We also played decent football under Paul Cox and scored loads of goals. We always played with two wide players and attacked (Louis Briscoe, Lindon Meile or Junior Daniel).

Rob has never given Paul Cox the credit he fully deserved.

That's simply not true Darren, he did a great job for 6 months and won a truly vital promotion.

However, the football he subjected us to in the FL was by far the worst I have ever seen.

Unlike you my friend, I am not going to stalk him for the rest of his life ;)

Paul Cox is absolutely crucial in the history of this club. He is only one of two managers who have won a Championship, and it could be argued that the one he won was the most important one the club has ever won. He deserves to be spoken about in the same company as Dave Smith and Ian Greaves, the style of football is irrelevant. There are at least 100 clubs who would take promotion from the Conference in a heartbeat. He took us as far as he was capable of, and it shouldnt impact his legacy.

Let's get him back then

The comparison between him and Dave Smith is ludicrous Mark and I think "he took us as far he was capable of" sums up my point - Smith took us to League 1 and it was mostly his side that were champs of league 1. If I were a County fan I'd not want him I'm afraid, but if he does go there, good luck to him, he's a good guy.

Why would I want him back when the position we’re in now is higher than the position that I said was as far as he could take us? Come on Rob, attempt to make at least a little sense.
When we’re all dead, and no one one remembers the style of football, the history books will state that three managers won Championships with Mansfield Town up to 2022: Dave Smith, Peter Morris and Paul Cox, there will be no mention on style of football. The difference here is that you’re talking opinion, and I’m talking facts.

No, the history books will say one won a non-league title, the other a FL title, unbeaten at home.. Your comparison of Smith with Cox remains utterly ludicrous. Dave Smiths achievements dwarf what Cox did and you know it. However, contrary to what Darren says, I really do appreciate what Coxy did for us, but as you said yourself, that was his level and in fact, his "level" has been below that ever since.

I sure do hope that when we're all dead it'll say there are more than three

Fair play to him. Me, I doubt I could do it with all the disappointment.

Proper non-league signing for a non-league club.

Signing players without any input from a manager??? Sums up the state of that club.

The opposite in my opinion. Shows a clear recruitment plan that doesn’t rely on a manager to find players.

The owners control everything.. They only use their Football Radar stats to identify and sign players and tbh as far as lower league owners go, theyre not that rich.

The state of their squad isn't even near bottom of league two. Just makes the "coaches" Job even harder when they have no say in their own squad

To some extent its a good idea, like Liverpool... But ultimately football people, Klopp and his staff make the decisions on who they sign and how they will fit into how they will/ want to play.

County, its pretty much just the owners and then up to who ever comes in to coach to make it all work. Watched them plenty of times this year and theyre a long way off league two.

Id be fuming if the club signed a player without a manager in place.
