There’s quite a bit of recent history between Mansfield and Newport fans over the last 7 or 8 years.

Newport’s bought there lads to Mansfield on three occasions I think.

There are at least two you tube videos of the idiots from both clubs fighting, one here one in Wales.

No no no... sneag did a head count and it was way OTT apparently. History of trouble means nothing if his numbers don't add up.

Completely unnecessary. Can the Police on duty not cope with gates of 3500 coming out of a stadium? Does this occur at the other clubs in Nottingham who have higher attendances? I doubt it. For some games there are only about 250 away fans!

Do the police realise that due to the gate being shut rival fans pass each other on somewhere else called Portland Street?

Massively unnecessary knee-jerk nonsense by a lazy bubble wrap police force.

They'll soon realise when too many people are being filtered onto the road and there is an accident with a car, then a law suit is against them

I’ve tweeted PC Gabbitas and asked him to explain the rationale behind a ridiculously overbearing action.

Don't understand how Notts police can fleece the club so much with ridiculous costs and still can't handle 200 away fans. They use the club as a cash cow.

Its what you get when someone has a completly unnecessary job. Throw common sense out the window as they try to justify their position. Glad were not paying customers who could have a say in the matter.

I can't understand the thinking behind that decision.

Seems unnecessary for games involving the likes of Colchester.

Just means more pedestrians near a busy road.

All it needs is away fans to be housed in the QLE and be kept in for 5 minutes or the gate into the car park being closed to divert Stags fans away from the QLE exit on the way out.

I feel sorry for any Stags fan who gets to the game via public transport and now has an extra 15 minute walk after every game.

Where's a scrap metal man when you need one to take this bloody gate away. Completely unnecessary as others have said.

THIS IS HOW THICK IT IS

Lets go back to the accy game when we had the trouble .
I approached the gate with about 300-400 stag fans , Accrington fans coming from the other side.

A few people getting through at a time so it caused a jam , parents with kids also trying ,everybody SQUASHED together.

HOW on earth can a gate that size get safety permission, when this amount of supporters are trying to get through from both sides at same time.

That day it caused frustrations with banter from both sets of supporters , because they thought they had right of way .

Why on earth are we using a single gate when there was a double one next to it.

I strongly believe if the gate "mysteriously" went missing before a local Derby, Gabbitas would call the game off on police advice!
