It looks to me like James Rowe is being very clever indeed. Buy players in the wake of a pandemic for cheap or even free and build this season for a good season next year.
Clubs when they get fans back will in my opinion start overcharging gor their assets as they will need to recoup whatever they can so Mr Rowe may not have been able to build as much as he has done

Very astute in my eyes

Cant wait to see a Rowe - Asante forward line.... makes me do a sexy wee in my pants

Picking players up cheap you say?

£45k for Danny Rowe is not cheap.

I’m usually quick to say I don’t want to
See any club go bust because of the impact on the fans and community around it.

Whilst I don’t want them to go bust for these reasons, they just don’t learn their lesson do they?

If it does go bang then they have only brought it on themselves!

Since he left Fylde, his goal/game ratio is about 1 in 4.

I’ve not seen their business plan but it feels like with the loans/grants that they are spending what they don’t have on a big gamble?

I’m just concerned for local tax payers, will they go back to the councils begging before the buckets come out?

This is a player who I thought we should have gone.in for about 5 years ago. He clearly knows where the net is, but that was mainly at NLN level. At football league he hasn't been prolific and his mobility found wanting.

I guess he held all the cards when it came to contract negotiation. Buying a 32 year old and then the player securing a 3 year deal is absurd during these times and at conference level. He knew he was in demand and got what he wanted.

This is a massive gamble for chesterfield because they haven't got a pot to wee in. They NEED him to hit the ground running (or jogging in Rowe's case) to get promotion. If they don't it's onto next season with a big dent already in their playing budget.

From the managers perspective, he's got his long deal too, so it's an easy risk for him to take.

Interesting to see how this pans out.

I think Rowe is a good signing and has proved he can score plenty of goals in the National League. There is no doubt in my mind signing him has enhanced their chances of promotion.

The problem is they have invested a lot in Rowe. If they achieve promotion, Rowe will only be an average striker in League Two. They will need to invest further if they have any chance of thriving in League Two.

Maybe their plan is to loan more money from the local councils on the back of being an EFL club and the supposed benefits it will bring to the town.

Or maybe the trust has got a buyer lined up and the sale is dependant on them being an EFL club.

Now our season is a dead rubber, I’ll be paying more attention to the Direshites.

If Chesterfield don't go up this season, I'll donate £50 to charity.

If they go bust , I'll donate £100 to charity.

Any suggestions on which charity welcome.

How about commissioning a sculpture for Sandys. A rampant stag about to bring it’s hooves down on a crooked spire could be quite apt.

What you really mean you will abuse the tax payer while you can..... even a misguided fool like yourself cant really believe what's happening is ok or do you?

I hope you are not rewarded by promotion but if you are we can bank at least 4 points.

A shambles of a club.

11 games in 5 weeks, squad size could be a factor.
Rowes already done one stint this season, he could struggle.

Normally it would, however with no relegation, some of the teams have already thrown the towel in and are playing youngsters. I suppose it depends who they've got to play.

The National League is a farce this season.

With all the talk of breakaways, it's nice to see our local rivals be principled and make every effort to stick with the league they're in...

Spireites run in is hard. They've got 4 top 6 teams in their last 10 games.

Their 10 remaining games reads as... 3 hard games, 4 easy games and finish on a hard away game.
