Paul Cox was his assistant at Hucknall (I think) then further down the line he became Paul Cox's assistant at Eastwood.

He was Eastwood manager last season. I presume they are just good mates.

John Ramshaw has been a regular at Stags games since he resigned from Eastwood in October. He is often on the sidelines or next to the dug out.

I have never asked Coxy about this. I would guess Ramshaw is just helping him out as a mate

Next thing you know someone on here will be saying it's Ramshaw's the reason we are playing so well since November. ;) ;)

John Ramshaw used to be my PE teacher at Sherwood Hall. He was on Newcastles books many years ago.

Yet again a football club has its next manager watching from the stands before the current guy is relieved of his duties!!!!

Rammers as the players call him was my mates manager at shepshed, he still speaks to him and apparantly he has been helping the club out on matchdays since before christmas. He has been sat up in ian greaves upper and reporting to coxy at half time on things he has noticed. An extra pair off eyes from a different view. It only been last couple of games he been down pitchside. This is obviously someone paul trusts and as far as my mate knows it just on matchdays

Noww you've done it. The conspiracy theories will be out that the better 2nd halves are down to Ramshaw now.

How old is this John Ramshaw? Just checking wikipedia and I cannot seem to believe he was at Newcastle in 1960, I doubt he was even out his nappies by then! Or is he really an old timer?

I did the same Ricky. I thought if he was at Newcastle in 1960 then I'd guess thats at 15/16 which would make him 70+ now! He certainly doesn't look it from pictures I saw!

I seem to recall telling us when I was a pupil at Sherwood Hall that he was on Notts County's books, though it's a while back now and my memory is a bit hazy.

I bet Ramshaw left Sherwood Hall because Norman started a "Ramshaw out" campaign before he went to the school ! :D

Not sure how old John is but he began his managerial career locally with Oakham United who used to play near Kings Mill. One of his players in those days was one Dion Dublin. He also managed Sutton Town in the NCEL and led them to runners-up spot behind North Shields who had thrown so much money at it that they went bust and didn't start the following season. In those days I was covering Sutton for the Chad and had a great working relationship with him. He subsequently managed Hucknall with whom he won the then UniBond Division One, and Leek.
One of my favourite stories told by John was the season Hucknall won UniBond Division One and tere were ground issues hampering their promotion. Apparently one league official told him they were only a glorified pub team, to which he replied 'So the Dog and Duck has just won your First Division!' They were promoted.
