Well it is the non-league and Woking needs all the fans they can get.

so because its non league it doesnt matter?

why do we bother with this league at all if it doesnt matter? absolute disgrace!

How do you know Woking didn't put a request in to change the date? It is a cold winter night and Woking could well lose some customers due to the Champions League. Why is it such a disgrace?

Last time a Champions League match was on, they lost 400 fans - now try telling me that it is a disgrace.

We spoke to Paul Cox about this yesterday. It would not be right to reveal on here the details of the conversation but it is the case that Woking requested the change

Like I said before, watching local teams play is just a past time for some people. But given the choice as a neutral, what would you do? Watch Man U v Madrid obviously. Woking v Stags won't even look that little bit enticing to them at all.

cant you see that moving it because of a champions league game on TV is completely devalueing the conference completely???

Don't both teams have to agree to the fixture change?

We should have told them to sod off

Thing is Ricky, you're sort of stating the obvious. Everyone can see why they've moved it. What we're saying is that it is wrong on every level.

Can't you see that it wasn't the league's idea to change it? Woking's business plan is obviously to keep people turning up and due to past experience they knew they'd lose money due to the Champions League...

But all these plaggy Manure fans will be on a proper downer on Weds when Real have spanked them out of the CL. They'll not be wanting to watch footy on a cold Weds night. They'll just stop in and drown their sorrows with some tinnies and Corrie.

So Ricky, the precedence is now set, there will no longer ever be any BSP games played on an evening when English clubs are involved in the Champions League. I take it that is what you are saying ....... ?

I can't believe that I might be away for this game now.... It's 10 miles from home.

Best I get some organising done at work.

From the Chad:-

Next Tuesday’s trip to Woking has been moved on 24 hours to Wednesday night as the home side were concerned their attendance could be hit by TV coverage of Manchester United v Real Madrid.

The move has upset a few Stags fans, who had booked time off work to go to the Tuesday date, but Cox said: “I can’t speak for Woking, but they contacted us and asked if we would move the game and we agreed to it.

“I just thought it would give our lads an extra 24 hours rest and recuperation.”

Matlock did the same to FC United of Manchester, here's what they said in a statement:

FC United of Manchester wrote:Matlock fixture from 5th March to 6th March.

The Evo-Stik League website this morning has announced that next week’s game against Matlock has been moved from Tuesday to Wednesday citing the clash with the televised MUFC/Real Madrid match.

It is true that Matlock did contact us asking for the game to be moved due to the clash with the Champions League match, but we made it clear at all times to the League and Matlock that we would not agree to move a game just so that people can watch another game on TV. We have already turned down a similar request earlier in the season from a different club and we will do so every time unless there is another compelling reason for a change of date.

We are aware that moving the game has upset a number of our fans and FC United would like to apologise unreservedly for the inconvenience and any upset that has been caused in this instance. Regardless of Matlock’s motivation for moving the game, we would like to reassure our own supporters that we only agreed to move the match back 24 hours to give our players an extra day’s rest from our Sunday fixture, after consultation with manager Karl Marginson.

The date for the North Ferriby game was arranged for the Sunday after the original fixture clashed with home games for both Bury FC and Stalybridge Celtic on the Saturday. With no alternative venue available and to avoid a blank Saturday at a crucial part of the season, the game was arranged for the Sunday.

With the number of postponements this season, rearranging fixtures has been a real headache. We always try to balance the needs of supporters and that of the team and sometimes that can create problems. Last night’s board meeting reviewed our own internal procedures for dealing with future match arrangements which will be shared with the club’s co-owners via the board minutes.

At least they have their head screwed on, and thought about the fans.
