The Big if!!

If we do get up this season we'll need a new squad because the current lot won't cut the mustard in Div2 I'm affraid.

Utter rubbish, lots of teams who go up carry on doing well as they have te spirit and a winning mentality...

Yes we'd need 3/4 new / better players, but we have a chairman who would no doubt back us again.

What a pathetic pointless negative thread given whats happening at the moment.

Totally disagree, the top conference teams are better than the lower league 2 teams, most teams that go up thrive in league 2, the only ones that struggles were a cheating York and Wimbledon, Stevenage, Crawley, fleetwood, Doncaster, Shrewsbury, Carlisle have all done well and this team would easily be mid table in league 2, mazza, beevers, green and quite a few others would easily be comfortable at that level, wed only need a few additions to challenge near the top

A new squad? Don't be so ridiculous; 3/4 additions perhaps.

Let's worry about that in May when the job is done.

It would go without saying that promotion in any league or any sport would call for strengthening.

The question is, where would we want to be in League 2 next season? Happy to consolidate or push for the top half?

Watched a few games (Including the leaders Gillingham) and there is nothing to be feared at all. The standard of football is poor and as someone else has already posted maybe 3/4 decent additions to the first 11 we currently have. Think this thread is a bit premature though, long way to go yet!

So of this eleven: Marriott, Beevers, Jones, Dempster, Jennings, Murray, Howell, Stevenson, Briscoe, Daniel, Green...

I could make a case for maybe Jones, Stevenson and Briscoe not being good enough (but they could prove me wrong) however I would love to hear the other three who you think wouldn't cut the mustard.

The players in league two aren't much faster than some of the ones at this level. And I asked of that starting eleven. I can't think of a single side in league two who have a 22/23 man squad of players who are really up to it, not even the teams at the top. When the likes of Adebayo Akinfenwa, Jon Parkin and (recently) Steve McNulty are featuring for top half teams, I doubt that the starting eleven I have named have too much to fear.

It's not, it's a common sense test, and you're failing at that too.
