Personally don’t see JJ ever getting back to the level he was at. If he was to stay he would be 5th choice CB - we’d be better off trying to move him out on loan recouping whatever we can of his wages and freeing up a space in the squad in my opinion.

Tippy Tappy Football wrote:John Joe O'Toole was clearly not right all season. I thought something was wrong in the 1st half away at Sutton United at the end of August. He had a terrible half and struggled to pass the ball accurately across the pitch. It was later reported he had a foot injury which he never really recovered from.
He was sat with a guy i know at the End of Season Dinner earlier this month. Apparently he had broken a bone in his foot which he played on for several games before a scan picked it up. In his words "he was so frustrated that he was struggling and just thought age had caught up with him" He is hoping that now it's healed he can get a good preseason in him and contribute to the squad this coming season.

I think if we are going with a back 4 JJ can have a part to play, even if it’s 4th choice.

One of the GK's were interested in was back up at Barnsley recently.
Ex-Burton GK apparently.
No idea if this is true, from a Barnsley supporting mate of mine.
He did mention his name...but I can't remember it

He’s a very good keeper, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t have Champ/L1 offers.

He is a very good keeper. Can't wait for people to notice he's 1cm taller than Pym and only has a 59.7% save percentage and suggest he's rubbish

Can't command his area and apparently his wages are 4k a week

If he's 7ft, saves everything, is good with both feet, has zero history of carrying a knock, hates Spireites, has never played for Burton and is willing to play for free then perhaps he should be considered.

Collins has played for Burton so rules him out, even though he ticks all the other boxes you have mentioned.

In that case if we are looking to sign him i hope the club does a thorough, proper in depth medical.

Certainly sounds good for our back up keeper!

Not now we have signed a left foot centre half in Cargill.

The bloke was a liability.
He cost us 8-10 goals a season with his comedy defending and giving away of stupid free kicks.
The combination of him Rawson and either of Stech or Stone still gives me the shivers.

Stone, the L1 goalkeeper gives you the shivers. You lead a charmed life supporting Mansfield. The names Jason White, Paddy Gamble or Scott Shearer won't mean anything to you. They were shiver material.
You've got to go there and come back, to know where you've been.

I think he was inconsistent but not necessarily a liability. He suffered from being in a weak centre half pairing and the odd brain fart. To be honest, it wasn't clear whether he or Rawson would be released. Talking to a Dundee fan last week who said that he had really won over the fans with his performances but he was still a sending off risk.
I wouldn't see him as a target for us in any way but I do remember his time with positives without ignoring his mistakes

Sweeney was part of one of the best defensive units I’ve seen as a Stags fan. If only we had that level of defence last season, we would’ve walked the league.

Pearce, Sweeney, Preston that season were great. Under Dempster it just went tits up though
