Players with same surname

Postby part time pete » Sat Aug 14, 2010 6:11 pm

Just a clarification of the rules

When a team has more than one player with the same surname, in the selected 18 players to play in a match, and the spl player does not indicate a christian name when posting, then if one of the same named players scores then the spl player will only get one point instead of the two normally credited for a goal scorer. If more than two players have the same surname, then the christian name of the scorer will have to be posted to gain any goalscorer points.

As there were two Wright's playing last night for Wrexham, then to get two points for the scorer a poster needed to state that Danny Wright scored not just 'Wright'. If just posted 'Wright' then only one point scored for the scorer.

Pete

Being pedantic....

I see on the Portsmouth thread people are predicting "Connolly" or "Connelly" to score. If "Connolly" scores then presumably those who said "Connelly" to score don't get the points because, by default, they are saying someone else was going to score

Names is names innit?!

I don't penalise folk who post Andrews or Howells or Brisco, so unless there are two folk in the Pompey squad with very similar names then it doesn't matter.

It only matters when both players are named in the eighteen on the team sheet.

Connor Green is now out on loan, so it should not be a 'green' problem.

I seem to remember a game v Bradford City in the 70s.
I think there was 4 Roberts (Dudley & Bobby) 3 Jones's (Dia) a Jarvis (Alan)& a Jarvie.
The programme for this game is quite collectable.
(Correct me if I'm wrong).
we're gunna need a bigger boat.

Just a thought...

If someone were to post Merriman (Scott/Micheal!!) as starting in the same 18, wouldn't they deserve bonus points and not incur a possible points penalty

We now have Ollie Clarke and James Clarke, so folk need to be careful.
