JOHN RADFORD PROGRAMME NOTES PRE CAMBRIDGE
17th September 2019 19:59

John Radford on facebook

My programme notes for tonight's game:

I cannot hide my disappointment of Saturday’s result at Crawley.

I felt as though our performance - especially in the second half - warranted a point.

It was a horrible return journey for me and Carolyn, which Is customary when we don’t acquire the result we want, and I know it would have been the same for our supporters, to whom I express great gratitude for making the near 400-mile-round trip to support our players.

We’re approaching the 10 game-mark in the season and that is always a point of any campaign where the league table should be looked at more forensically.

Whilst nothing is won or lost after 10 matches, it is certainly a time where progress, or lack thereof, can be measured.

I am also well aware that when a club like ours - which has invested well in a strong squad - doesn’t get the results we expect, supporters will ask questions. I am of the belief that we have a stable squad and staff from which we can build.

We are all aware that results must improve. There can be no excuses this term and our ambitions for promotion, despite a mediocre start to the season, remain as fervent as ever.

At the beginning of the season, we targeted promotion and we will not waiver from this aim. Our standards remain high and I expect an upward trajectory in results in the forthcoming fixtures.

It is important that we are all supportive of our players and staff through both thick and thin during any campaign.

People require extra support when things aren’t going their way and that must be our job, as supporters who love Mansfield Town; to support our players from the stands.

After all, we all want success for our beloved club, and each of us has a part to play towards that success.

This is a time where high standards must be met, our heads kept cool, our hearts alight with desire, and our support unwavering to John, his players and staff.

Together, we will climb this table.

COYS!!!
