Striker Rakish Bingham has been recalled from his loan spell at Sky Bet League Two rivals Hartlepool United.

Bingham, 21, made five appearances for Hartlepool and scored one goal - in a 2-0 victory over Cheltenham Town.

The frontman is expected to give competition to our strikers following his return to One Call Stadium.

Adam Murray explained in Tuesday's press conference that Rakish Bingham had gone out on loan to get minutes, and returns now as he offers something different, being able to play off the shoulder of the last man:

I would just like to take this moment to thank everyone involved with Hartlepool football club. The staff, players and the fans. Your support has been fantastic and you made me feel welcome from the day I came in. Thank you

One player who won’t be on the bus down to Portsmouth is Bingham.

Moore added: “Bings hadn’t scored the goals we thought he might have done but he worked hard and gave us a breather by chasing lost causes.

“I was a bit disappointed he had to go back but when I saw they had dropped into the bottom two it wasn’t a surprise.

“It is common sense really.

“If you are the manager at Mansfield and you let your striker go to the team below you and he scores umpteen goals then you are asking for trouble.”

Ronnie Moore’s Deadline Day Blog
obviously we were disappointed to see Rakish Bingham recalled from his loan by Mansfield Town. I can see why they have done it - I think it’s pretty obvious to everyone - but we thank them for letting Rakish come here for the month. He’s been a big part of the turnaround we’re trying to put in place at the Club.
