@CharlieSlater15 tweeted at 1:19 PM on Fri, May 30, 2014:

#stags manager Paul Cox told me that his playing budget has been cut in half for next season and the squad will be cut from 30 players to 20.
There are signings on the way and he's very close to a signing in the next few days. Cox says there could be 5 or 6 new signings #stags
Cox referred matter upstairs before spoke on record about it (the budget). My understanding is that he's speaking for club here.
I know what JR (John Radford) said at fans forum. Cox referred the questions over budget upstairs before he spoke to me about it on record.
#stags are very close to signing a striker and are in very very early talks with Lewis Price. There's much more on @BBCNottingham to come!
Much of it depends on whether Marriott, Howell & Daniel sign new deals. A striker is very close, a keeper, another striker too.

Clarification: Charlie Slater confirmed to me that what he meant by "Cox referred the questions over budget upstairs" was that before answering Charlie's question about the cut in budget in the interview, Cox checked with Paul Broughton that he could say it, and Paul Broughton in turn confirmed with John Radford.
