INJURY UPDATE
21st November 2002 15:37

"We wouldn't be Mansfield Town Football Club if we didn't pick up some knocks and bruises" said gaffer Stuart Watkiss earlier in the week. Well, one person who gets to see it all first hand is Club Physio Barry Statham. And, the good news from him is that some of the injured are starting to return to training this week. Thankfully, the injuries do seem to be subsiding although we did pick up a couple of knocks on Saturday at Bath, most noticeably Craig Disley who finished the match with quite a nasty cut to the shin has stopped him training in early part of this week. But he will be reporting back for duty today (Thursday) ,so we should see him up for selection for Saturday's game against Bristol City. Mark Lever, who picked up a gash just below the knee during training last Friday prior to the FA Cup Clash at Bath will also be returning to Training on today and should be in Watkiss's plans for Saturday. Bobby Hassell played 45 minutes in a reserve game against Shrewsbury yesterday and seems to have come it through it okay, we obviously be monitoring his progression as we are keen to see him back in action as soon as possible. Both Dion Scott and Dave Jervis played a full 90minutes and they too, came through okay. Allen Tankard is still a little sore behind the knee so missed out yesterday, as we are not prepared to take the chance of further aggravating the injury. But will possibly play in the reserve game next week. I am pleased, however to bring the news that he has started training with the first team and come through the first three days relatively well. Scott Sellars should be back in training next week following the ankle problems he has been suffering with and Loan Signing Colin Little should be back in action by Saturday following the knock he received at Notts County. We realise that it has only been 10 days but I think that he will come into the manager's mind for selection for the Straurday clash against Bristol City"
