JOHN ALMOND DIES

Former Mansfield Town chairman John Almond passed away on Tuesday night. All at Stagsnet send their condolences to his family.

When Arthur Patrick unexpectedly resigned as Chairman in May 1981, Mr Almond took over in that position until Richard Hartley bought the club in June 1982. He had been Vice-Chairman from December 1974 until May 1981. He was last year awarded a Life Presidency for his services to the club. Interim Chairman Andrew Saunders said: "This is very sad news. John was a fantastic servant to the club for many years and his efforts will always be gratefully remembered.
