SSA Donate 5k towards Foster signing
Friday, 22 January 2010

Mansfield Town Football Club were delighted to accept a donation of £5,000 from the Stags Supporters' Association towards the recent new signing of Luke Foster from Oxford United.

This recent injection takes the SSA's investment to the club to £30,000 so far this season.

Already this term the supporters' group, which boasts of 560 members, has funded the players' pre-season trip to Cumbria and Go Karting day, a Marquee to the entrance of the Kevin Bird Suite and a defibrillator for physio Jason Truscott.

They have also invested £15,000 this season via Stags Fans United.

Chairman Andrew Perry told mansfieldtown.net: "It is an amazing gesture from the SSA. Having spoken to SSA Chairman Dean Foulkes, he tells me that the majority of these recent funds have come as a result of hard work from both adult and junior members who sold Christmas raffle tickets.
We thank the SSA for their ongoing support, which has been tremendous. I urge anyone who wishes to help support us, to also support and join the SSA."

Tomorrow's cheque will be presented to our four directors by a selection of junior SSA members ahead of kick off at tomorrow's home game against Chester City.

CHAD.co.uk, 22 January 2010

IT was revealed on Friday evening that Stags fans have made a £5,000 contribution to midweek signing Luke Foster.
The commanding centre half was snapped up by Mansfield Town from Oxford United for an undisclosed fee, beating off other BSP clubs for his signature.

Now the club has publically thanked the Stags Supporters Association for donating £5,000 towards the high profile acquisition - taking the fans group's financial backing this season to £30,000.

On the club's official website mansfieldtown.net chairman Andy Perry said: "It is an amazing gesture.

"We thank the SSA for their ongoing support which has been tremendous."

The money will be handed over to the club's four directors - including new addition Steve Hymas who joined the 'Three Amigos' this week - at tomorrow's match against Chester.

Earlier this season the SSA, now offering half price membership, handed over £15,000 through Stags Fans United and has also funded a pre-season trip to Cumbria and karting day or the players; the marquee at the entrance to the Kevin Bird Suite at Field Mill and a defibrillator for physio Jason Truscott.

A spokesman for the SSA said: "The membership of the SSA have helped to bring this player to the club, as well as eeryone who bought an SSA Christmas raffle ticket.

"It is brilliant to see ownersand all the fans' groups working together to help the club climb back into the Football League as soon as possible.

"The SSA would encourage all fans to get down to Field Mill for the rest of the season to help both the team vocally and the club financially."
