Burgess, who scored in last night's 3-1 win at Gateshead, is charged with two breaches of FA Rule E8a when he is alleged to have bet on the outcome of the Rushden v Mansfield game on 28th February 2009 and Rushden v Kidderminster on 15th November 2008. Burgess was charged by the FA with two counts of betting on matches in which he played, while at Rushden & Diamonds. A club spokesman said: "We were aware of this prior to Andrew joining us. "We have spoken to Andrew about the matter and the charges are being refuted.We don't anticipate any issues arising as a result of this." The spokesman added:"All players at Mansfield Town Football Club are aware of the rules and regulations when it comes to betting on football matches." ----------- |
