Stags Richie Barker has been nominated for the Coca Cola league 2 player of the month for his outstanding commitment and effort to the game during the month of Februray.

February was good month for Mansfield Town with Peter Shirtliff's men remaining unbeaten for five games seeing them jump to fifteenth place in the table. But for Richie it was even more pleasing seeing him beat his goal drought and better his personal best goal tally with nineteen goals across all competitions.

The Stags captain has had a spectacular season finding the back of net in fourteen his outings this campaign but says that he will not stop there:

"You cannot become complacent just because you have reached your best tally, you have to give moving forward and trying hard. I have go a personal goal that I am trying to achieve but I will keep that to myself for now. Obviously it would be nice to score over the twenty goal mark and with quite a few games left that is what I will be aiming for.

"it is a nice compliment when you are nominated for awards like this and it shows that you have been doing something right."

Richie will have to wait until next week to find out if has beaten off the competition to the coveted title.
Stagsnet can reveal that one player was nominated from each of: Grimsby, Lincoln, Carlisle, Mansfield.
